Movie Maker --- eugh
Paint --- ok... but out of date
Notepad --- ok... but word is easier and better
Command Prompt --- ok... but out of date and has its restrictions for every day users

Calculator ----- saves me going downstairs to get my calculator from my school bag next to the door

I use movie maker and sound recorder the most often.
I guess the best is media, but If my pc were better it may be movie maker

Lol Calculator, with our school leet computers with amd k6 420mhz processors we managed to spam about 150 calculators on(it had "calculator" key on keyboard) and then it crashed.

Media Player - Meh, there's far too many better alternatives. Would've been better if they kept it the way it used to be. I <3 Media Player Classic.
Movie Maker - Got my vote. It's the most complex program on the list and it's the only free good one in it's deparment. I use it a lot while making videos, it's really easy and quick to get used to. I just wish it wouldn't freeze that much when you get a lot of video clips.
Paint - Meh, can't really do much with it. It's definately worth shelling out the $50 or so for Photoshop. You could probably find an older version for really cheap and just use that. Also, you could find a few friends who also want it and just install it on all their comps and split the cost.
Notepad - I do use this a lot but it's really nothing special. Microsoft Word is still a lot better.
Command Prompt - Meh, don't really use it.
Sound Recorder - You could easily download Audacity for free and do a lot more with sounds than just record and put them in reverse or something really simple. A lot more editing tools with audacity. You could also control the volume of the mic with audacity for the convenient factor.
Calculator - Meh, I hardly use the calculator. I can do most problems in my head, if I really need to I'll use the calculator. But either way, it's something every computer should have, shouldn't really be considered a Windows XP accessory.

i find paint sooo easy for simple resizing for unimportant bitmaps. it's so quick, so easy, the shortcuts are easy. there's nothing to it.

try holding windows key and "e" it brings up explorer, do it in school to bring up loads of windows, that take ages to close and hogs memory like a bitch
