Not sure what is more disturbing, the fact this law has just been amended....near the end of 2006, or that it was opposed by people.

Ya, I never understood that. They were dancing in the streets on 9/11. It must be payback for helping us win the Cold War.CameronPoe wrote:

Pakistan is a perfect example of why it sometimes makes sense for the U.S. to support rulers who are corrupt and undemocratic (Musharraf, Saddam?). The alternative in Pakistan would be pretty ugly, hopefully the result in Iraq won't be as bad.Mekstizzle wrote:
Wonder what'll happen if Musharraf gets assasinated...becuase that's what just might happen. These psychos don't want stuff like this, they'll do whatever they can to get it back to the old way. It's crazy that it's being amended now, and that the U.S have been allies with a country like that for so long.
LOL... exactly.SpaceApollyon wrote:

^ I like this guy, sorta knows what he's talking about. True, they do have military power, and a fair sizedTurquoise wrote:

Thanks for the compliment, but I'd say the animosity Pakistan has for India is proof that they are a threat. As you explained, the situation is a lot more complicated than just the West vs. terrorists, but it would seem that Pakistan has made enemies with everyone around it. On the one hand, you have Islamists in the west of the country, and on the other hand, you have fighters in the east with India.Jbrar wrote:

populaition. (about 6th, approx. 159, 000, 000). But the fact that they are very dedicated to defending their
border with India really eliminates the threat. If you think i'm really wrong here, go to India, go to the
border, you'll see. My Grandpa served in the Indian army in the 60's and 70's, my Uncle serves now, the
majority of time is spent watching their borders, especially in the mountains.
What do France and Holland have to do with this?Major_Spittle wrote:
Isn't Pakistan and the middle East the real world equivalent of a land created by Dr. Zues? Some people would argue that France or Holland would better fit the bill, but those big Islamic Mosques with the bulby top and people crowded around it with goddy head gear listening to the guy with the real tall hat and long beard spouting Illogical rhetoric that the crowd approves of as they joyously flail about their AK-47s while the women scurry along covered head to toe trying to not make eye contact. Hell, they ride Camel for gad sake. If that isn't Dr. Zuesish I don't know what is.
this little white cigar smells funny.

They lost their right to have nuclear arms to India. Something about them selling nuclear secrets to al aqaeda or something.Turquoise wrote:

Pakistan and most of the Islamic World are like an extreme version of what the Religious Right want America to become culturally. The main difference is that our extremists are obsessed with Christianity instead of Islam. I'm just glad the Christian extremists don't usually blow people up.

Think of an alliance as a friendship. Friends do not have to agree or cooperate with everything you do. It is better to have a friend like France, than a total piece of shit like Pakistan that belongs at the business end of a machine gun.kr@cker wrote:

This is true. We basically had to threaten Musharraf to help us.Rosse_modest wrote:
