Pakistan is a perfect example of why it sometimes makes sense for the U.S. to support rulers who are corrupt and undemocratic (Musharraf, Saddam?). The alternative in Pakistan would be pretty ugly, hopefully the result in Iraq won't be as bad.Mekstizzle wrote:

Pakistan and most of the Islamic World are like an extreme version of what the Religious Right want America to become culturally. The main difference is that our extremists are obsessed with Christianity instead of Islam. I'm just glad the Christian extremists don't usually blow people up.
But yeah, Pakistan is a fucked up country that only serves as an ally to America because Afghanistan is worse. Still, I think Pakistan will be a greater threat to the West than Iran or North Korea in the long run. I say this because they already have nukes and a LOT more people.

border with India really eliminates the threat. If you think i'm really wrong here, go to India, go to the
border, you'll see. My Grandpa served in the Indian army in the 60's and 70's, my Uncle serves now, the
majority of time is spent watching their borders, especially in the mountains.
Isn't Pakistan and the middle East the real world equivalent of a land created by Dr. Zues? Some people would argue that France or Holland would better fit the bill, but those big Islamic Mosques with the bulby top and people crowded around it with goddy head gear listening to the guy with the real tall hat and long beard spouting Illogical rhetoric that the crowd approves of as they joyously flail about their AK-47s while the women scurry along covered head to toe trying to not make eye contact. Thanks for the compliment, but I'd say the animosity Pakistan has for India is proof that they are a threat. As you explained, the situation is a lot more complicated than just the West vs. terrorists, but it would seem that Pakistan has made enemies with everyone around it. Personally, I'd rather the U.S. ally with India, because it may come to a point where America and India have to roll over Pakistan and Afghanistan to clean up the messes that these Islamists create.
