I cant say much since i only watch him play around 50 mins of football but im not very impressed the first time it was the last half of a game where he scored no points, The second time i watched was the last 20 mins of the last game which he made no impressive passes when i was watching. The only reason they won was a horrible defensive play, where the defender let the wr gain a 10 yard advantage twice in a row with the exact same pattern. Ill admit thats not much of anything to go on but when one of the announcers says thats his text book play you gotta think its the quality of the teams they are facing that are giving them the wins.
Patriots = Perfect season = Brady Pwning !

Damn, great game. Tuned in for a majority of the second half, got a bit worried when I saw the 12 point deficit. Nice to see the Patriot offense churn out those plays, and taking advantage of the soft spots in the defense. (lmao, when Moss was wide open on that second TD attempt, the one where he broke the record, I laughed so hard at that defender). Defense was doing very well as well, stopping where it counted, and my hometown hero Mike Vrabel recover that onside kick, it was cool to see all those records being broken.
BTW, Eli is fucking terrible at clock management.
Nifty, I'm in the Falls, only....10? minutes away from there.
Um, you do realize that it is illegal to tape ANYTHING without the consent of the NFL right? It does not matter if you have permission or not from a team. All 32 teams are the proerty of the NFL, not the owner. The Patriots were fined for video taping "live game footage" without the consent of the NFL. The Jets admitted to taping "Live game footage" as wel. That would, in English at least, make it the same thing. And seeing how you are so well educated in football and I am not, allow me to ask a question o wise one. Why would the Jets need to tape anything at all from a crappy home made video camera in the standing section at Foxboro (mile fucking high btw) when they have high defenition broadcast with unlimited access to any footage from the NFL to review? HHHmmmm. Competetive edge perhaps? There must be SOMETHING to gain that they could not get from the NFL. Once again o wise one enlighten me.Poseidon wrote:

God, it's like arguing with a member of the Westboro Baptist Church. You can try and try, but they'll always be too thickheaded to discuss anything with you because they believe what they want to believe, not what's the truth.

Its true, actually. Good players are always better with a good team. Brady would still be a good QB with a bad team, but the great team makes him appear perfect. Randy Moss and Terrell Owens relatively sucked with bad teams, now, they both had near career seasons. I agree with you there. However, your claim the QB fits with the team helps my argument, not yours. Brady was lucky enough to have the best team he possibly could, including one that meshed with him well. Other QB's who are just as good as him didn't have the luxury of such a good team, both in skill and chemistry, and thus didn't go undefeated.ph4s3 wrote:
Stats don't make a QB. You can't just plug a "good" one into an offense and expect him to be able to lead the guys the same way as another "good" QB. These guys are the leaders of the team, at least the offense anyway, and much the rest of the team does is keyed off of the QB's personality and manner in which he conducts himself. To say any other QB with the same guys could accomplish the same task is disingenuous. Per your logic, you could single out any player on that team for ridicule and say they're nothing special, it's the team that did it. The flaw in that logic is that the team wouldn't be the same if you changed even just one cog in the machine. It'd be a different team with different attitudes, personality conflicts, loyalties, etc. If it was as easy as you and others describe to substitute players, then building a perfect team with a perfect season would have happened a lot more recently than 35 years ago.nukchebi0 wrote:
Secondly, think about this for another moment. Why hasn't there been undefeated team since the Dolphins? Perhaps because no other QB had the surrounding cast necessary to achieve this. A good QB does not a team make. I can almost guarantee Joey Harrington would be good with the offensive line of the Patriots. Brady got lucky enough to have an unparalleled surrounding cast, which no other top ten QB got.
Breaking a game rule is cheating. I think that is sufficient to refute this.No they didn't. They broke a rule, got caught and got punished. If they cheated an opponent and it contributed to the win, the NFL would have stripped the team of the win and possibly worse. As it is, it's a pretty serious infraction with one hell of a fine and the coach will forever have a mark against him. But the league obviously didn't feel it contributed in any way to the outcome of the game and I'm inclined to take their opinion over any of these presented here.nukchebi0 wrote:
They also cheated.

As a matter of fact, I have a faster 40 time than Brady, but then again, a lot of people do (5.23 for the LOSE!)

With the power of Madden, anything is possible.
You say that in jest... but how many grown-ups in here watched a decade of football and didn't learn half the rules they did until playing Madden 'xx... I even played it in school and didn't learn half the stuff I did playing Madden. Guess that says something about which one I wanted to win at more...stryyker wrote:

On what planet does that make sense? You agree to the stipulation that the team is greater than the sum of the players, then you go and say that any player could be changed out without negatively impacting the team. Anyone that's had any experience with "dynasty" like teams, squads, whatever will tell you that no one is indispensable, that everyone contributes to this thing that is great but no one knows how. Changing a component out such as the QB would drastically affect the team's cohesion. Particularly because timing and trust is such an important part of the game. Those things are learned, not automatic. If your statements were true then no professional team on the planet would offer larger and larger contracts to keep their best players on hand... they'd just find a substitute that is, "good enough."nukchebi0 wrote:

Seriously? Breaking a game rule is cheating of such significance to question the validity of the outcome of the game? Because last time I checked teams regularly break rules regarding the neutral zone and personal fouls about a dozen times a game. But not one questions those games' outcomes because there was an assessed penalty in accordance with the significance of the rule infraction. The same thing happened here. According tot he NFL it reads like a copyright violation (filming w/o permission from the league), not cheating, stealing signals, etc... You'd better be careful here saying that rule breaking / cheating warrants a black mark on a win. There are a lot of things that go on in a game that aren't called, often not even seen by the crowd. Anyone that's ever played the game will tell you that there's holding on just about every play and personal fouls are as often as you can get away with them. I can't tell you how many times as a kid I got cleated in a game on the bottom of a pile but it was only called once. Surely the NFL isn't that bad, but we've all seen fouls go unpunished... The bottom line is that the league itself didn't see it as an infraction that impacted the outcome of the game. If they didn't, then I don't either, and you're on the losing side of this argument. The only arbiter that matters already made their decision 16 or so weeks ago. I guess you could argue it all you wanted, but the fact remains that the decision has already been made and your side lost.nukchebi0 wrote:
