For 300 fucking years this country has been trying (and not trying, at parts) to eliminate racism in American life. During the civil rights movement, Blacks were striving just to be accepted into mainstream Americana as normal people. For a while it was magical. White people sat with Blacks on the bus. Equal employment was rampant. It was looking like things were getting better.

Same goes with Mexican-Americans and Mexican immigrants.

Then it all went to shit.


Here's a little back story on myself. I live about 50 miles north of the Mexican border. I have many illegal immigrants as good friends.


The Civil Rights Movement told the world that Blacks JUST WANTED TO BE ACCEPTED.

What the fuck. Everywhere I go now, Blacks and Mexicans are trying to be as far away from mainstream America as possible. I was in class today, my teacher called on the one Black kid in my class, and he st ood up and shouted "You just pick on me because I'm Black.." He then walked out of the classroom. Its like they are trying so hard to be understood, but they aren't letting anyone understand them. Its fucking ridiculous.

Same with the Mexicans in this area. They are so against the way of life that I grew up in (as did most of them). Now don't get me wrong, everyone in California has a little Spanish in them, but thats ridiculous.


Bottom line: I know your people may have struggled in the past, but you really don't have to take it out on the rest of us just because you came from somewhere else and your family had it bad in the past.

I couldn't agree more. Minorities do not want equality. If we were all equal, they would lose their ability to have special treatment. No more handouts because they are black or hispanic or whatever. They would no longer be empowered. Which, is total bullshit and is probably going to give me an ulcer someday. But we should all be equal, with race not even being an issue. That day will probably never come though. Too bad.

Affirmative action also pisses me off. Especially when they consider "minorities" who honestly have more people than true minorities like Jews and Native Americans and pacific islanders. There are about 34,300,000 more African Americans (I hate being PC ) than Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (Census 2000) and i don't see them being accepted into college or a teaching position because of that! Jews make up only 0.2% of the entire world's population, but affirmative action doesn't seem to apply to them either! People only call Hispanics and Blacks minorities because they traditionally are, but now combined they represent 25% of the population. Granted, whites are more like 70%, but one quarter is still significant. By no means is this a racist rant, I think everyone should be equal. but it seems to me as some people think these "minorities" are BETTER! People should get into college because they would do well academically, not because they "diversify" the school. That's crap.

I agree entirely. I also hate such expressions like...well, the "n-word" (I won't risk saying it on a forum). I think that there should be no words one culture may use, while the other can't, especially one that has such a negative connotation. It degrades black society and lessens all that they fought for over the years. It's like the new thing where girls call each other "bitch" as a greeting. There goes all that hard work of your ancestors down the drain, by degrading yourself. It's terrible to see people forget where they came from, and why they have what they do today.
It's also terribly annoying to have those same people change denotations in dictionaries to make them sound more politically correct, while degrading themselves in public.
(I just had a discussion on this in 'Theory of Knowledge' the other day)

It annoys me that so many people who are of a minority expect to be treated different in a good way. While the minority memebers I am friends with do not act like this it seems that people who have inffeunce over minorities expect them to (i.e. Jesse Jackson pressuring to get the word "niggerguy" banned and Al Sharpton protesting the NYPD after  Black guys get shot).

We have similar problems here, with islamic immigrants coming by sea from northern Africa and slavic immigrants from eastern Europe.
Most of them come here illegally and end becoming prostitutes or drugpushers.

I have nothing against those who are willing to respect our laws, our traditions, our lifestlyle, who want to work and pay taxes.
But those muslims want their own schoolclasses, their mosques, an hour per week of islamic religion teaching in school, crap like this.
Their women want to go around with their fucking towel around the face, even in places where it is forbidden, like banks or post offices.

They don't want to join our society. They just want to do whatever they want in a place where life is better than in their native countries.

So yes, I agree 100%.
Greeks got it right. They just kick illegal albanian immigrants straight away.

I completely agree with everything that has been said here, but why are minorities fighting back like this? I don't think that it is truly because they want to be treated better than us, do they see it as preserving their culture?

Guys, that disclaimer should have gone without saying. Flaming anyone for being racist is against the rules, he only put that there as he was venturing into what some would consider quite a touchy subject.

Of course, mods still have the final word when it comes to bans, and administrators when it comes to perm bans, just because it's stryyker doesn't mean his threat carries any weight on its own.

Ok, how about if I put a disclaimer above my posts saying that anyone who "flames" me for my opinion (aka disagrees with me) will be banned. Nice huh?

Mind you, I'm not saying he is a racist. I don't know him and I don't give a fuck what he is. But suppose I were to  disagree with him and argue that he is wrong. Would that be flaming, seeing as it might imply that his stance may be considered racist by some? FFS what is flaming anyway. Oh fuck why do I even bother.

I really couldn't care if someone started disagreeing with him. He specifically stated flaming him for being racist, which he isn't, on a forum where such behavior is prohibited anyways. Again, the mods would have to look at whether it was racist or not and make that call, but if you just disagree with him and don't turn it into a personal attack in the first place then it isn't a problem.

it was about minorities abusing the race card and distancing themselves from the rest of the nation.


by the way, only American Indians (i refuse to call them native Americans; they're no more native than I, they just came here sooner.)  edit: live on reservations, and thats so they can preserve their culture, not because they're forced. and most reservations around here just house casinos nowadays anyways.

This topic is beyond me. I don't understand fucking minorities wanting to be equal AND separate. Let's take black people for example. They want to be treated equal, yet they still want Black History Month, Cesar Chavez day, Kwanzaa (which is made up, btw, don't even get me started there), Affirmative Action, and so on. For the record, I am not a racist, I am not a redneck, I am not a neo-Nazi, etc. I am actually from Chicago, a city in which blacks and whites live in (nearly) perfect harmony. I am a liberal-leaning centrist, and I completely support equality of all people worldwide. However, as I stated, when any ethnic, politcal, or religious group wants more than everyone else, it's inherently unequal. It makes no sense to me, but nothing will change. White people (for the most part) are so scared of being called racist by the overbearing minority advocates like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson (two of the biggest racists ever, IMO). If a black man refuses to be arrested, he is fighting for his rights. If a white man does the same thing, he gets the fuck tazered out of him. People are scared of being called racist. That's the bottom line.

I'm all riled up now, dammit.

Im black and I strongly disagree with what you said you are generalizing a whole entire race as not wanting to be part of "Mainstream America" what ever that means. You are American if you are a citizen of the country, you get angry and call all black people un-american, This country was built on the backs of our ancestors. You are also saying that all black people hate whites and are taking thier anger out on whites because a black student stormed out calling his teacher racist for picking on him. Well you know what? Racism is still around and might never disappear, you have to look past those minoritis that blame everything on racism and  look at the people that are trying to make something of themselves and are willing to look past what happened to thier ancestors in the past.

Indeed they should. That is another thing that really gets me, how feminists want to be equal, but still want men to cater to them in that fashion. When my girlfriend and I are out, whoever gets to the door first holds it. It's a custom, and it's fucking stupid. But I digress, this isn't on-topic.
