Apparently my town wasn't hit hard by the Great Depression because the banker was on vacation at the time it happened. Somehow, that prevented this area from being hit hard.
Well, Fresh Meadows, NY (Queens for you New York City folk) is famous for two things:
[list]
[#]St. Francis Preparatory School, the largest Catholic school in the country.
[#]The Long Island Expressway. Gotta love the giant parking lot that it was.

My town is home of the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs. We almost got 2nd place in the whole state of Texas, but the refs cheated us out because we were playing at the home teams field which was bullshit. It was amazing, the crowd was huge it looked like an NFL game.
Here's a picture showing a bit what it was like.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The Declaration Of Independence and U.S. Constitution were drafted here in Independence Hall.
It was the United States of America's first Capital.
The United States Marine Corps was founded here.
Rocky was filmed here.
The Philly Cheese Steak.
And I'm sure there's a lot more that I don't know.

I know a couple of movies where my neighborhood was used as a movie setting (Coming to America, US Marshalls). That'd be Elmhurst, NY. Today across the street from my job in Manhattan, I got to see Matt Damon, filiming the 3rd Bourne movie. Corona, NY, where I currently reside is not too far from Flushing Meadow Park which is where the World's Fair was? And uh, Corona Lemon Ice King, everyone I've talked to seems to know about that place.
I think New York City and it's five boroughs should be excluded from this thread. Everything happens in New York. It's unfair to the people who live, for example, in the middle of nowhere.

I was raised in Moore, Oklahoma. Home of Toby Keith.
We have the highest airport in Australia, but since hardly anyone knows that I guess it doesn't make us famous
