all you need.  the only ones that matter are the memories that you could never prove to anyone.

rofl.  We would lose I think.  Why you ask?  Because we would use tactics.....which is a no no in BF2.  Bunny hop and exploit FTW.

Well, if you listen to the kind folks over at Youtube, about 30% of the people who use the Internet are ex-Army Rangers who accidentally, uh, lost their proof. I only trust those who can prove it (Gunslinger, USMarine.)

I have no reason not to believe them. I married in to a family of ex military, father in law is  ex navy, three brothers in law, one navy, two AF. I tried to go Navy when I turned 18, pissed me off, spent all day at Fort Jackson only to be told I had a prism effect in my vision so I couldnt run sonar on a sub ?????. Never have understood that one. Anyhow, what I am trying to say is you can tell who is military and who isnt, regardless of what they say.

I dont have a whole lot of pictures from when I was in. The first condo I had when I got out had a basement flood so %80 of all my memories were ruined. I do, however, have a couple Marine Corps tattoos, the scar on my bicep from when they put a cigar out on it (hazing tradition for new NCO's), my American Legion card, a DD-214, Veteran license plates, a cigarette habit, a strange love for extremely cheap beer, a few moments of drunken indiscretion (do not ride a refridgerator down stairs, trust me) a lot of good USMC buddies, an extra birthday on 11/10, extra duece gear I never turned in, the inability to walk by an Army/Navy store without going in, bad knees, bad back, short hair and long stories. Maybe if I ever come to Ireland you can convince me to put down a Coors lite and sip on a Guiness and I can tell you one.
Hazing is mostly prohibited within most of the Corps nowadays, (the weaker Corps as my DI called it in bootcamp). I(along with 3 Marines) was given a page 11 and non recd for promotion for hazing a Pvt who wouldnt wake up on time to formation and fix his room. Funny thing is, I didn't even hit the fleet yet and I'm now a reservist waiting to go back to 29 stumps to get MOS school done.

I don't know why the AF and Army can't be simple with MOSs like the USMC is... 4 numbers, I'm a 2821, infantry is 03XX(XX because they have variables, but still maintain numbers no letters).

Also, depending on MOS, active duty personnel, especially the single ones have nothing better to do at night. maybe hit the enlisted club, other than that it gets pretty lonely, depending on where your base is located. Comm Techs usually get out at the usual time of 1630 and go home. Of course, grunts will be in the field weeks at a time, and motor t will prolly be fixing all the humvees all weekend long. it all depends on MOS.

I've never seen combat either, so I'm not a veteran, just a weekend warrior.

Dont take this with any offense, but every Marine or any service member for that matter, will always tell you the newer are the weaker. It is true. When I enlisted (96) there was always the seasoned old Gunny quick to tell you you were a dickless fag because of one thing or another. When I got towards the end of my enlistment we would haze the shit out of "Crucible" Marines. You are semi correct in that Marines do not tolerate hazing. But let me assure you when you are in the fleet on a LHD ship in the middle of the Medeteranian with nothing to do  than work out, play spades and find reasons to punch sailors, hazing goes on. Anyone who was in the Corps and was never hazed is a pogue, and that is a fact that is not negotiable. Remember young Devil Dog, the Corps also prohibits underage drinking, but the Globe & Anchor (enlisted club in Okinawa) still remains one of the most dangerous places on the face of the Earth. Wow, I think I might just be "Old Corps".............dickless fag, lol

Because you respawn in games. Well, this game anyway. Plus people are more concerned with their individual 1337pwn4ge-ethug statz0rs than, uh, everything else.

A lot of vets suffer from PTSD so I would find it highly unlikely that they would play a game like battlefield.  They would have horrible flashbacks.  So I really highly doubt it.  Well, I take that back anyone who has actually killed a human being up close and seen them as they died would not be here however I could see an air force pilot playing bf2...

yeah, like psoriosis....lol
I had a marine in my squad that had some 50% of his body covered in psoriosis, he finished his 4 years.

You act as though it takes superhuman strength to survive the military. Unless you've experienced something...traumatic, it's very unlikely you will have post-traumatic stress disorder. I don't see why once you kill somebody, you have to change dramatically if it was a conscious decision. Even so, say in a battle, veterans will tell you that you have no time to reflect on morality when you're pulling the trigger because it's instinct; you don't say "this is a bad man." As GunSlinger said, most of those ideas are assumptions which are not really the case.

I have had more dreams about BF2 than my combat time.

Let me begin with this: You, Sir, are the one fucked up! Not the Volunteer that pledged an oath to protect the US Constitution from terrorists both foreign and domestic! I am almost fed up with all of your rhetoric and banter.  You sound like a very intelligent person. However you speak form head knowledge, learning from professors, news sources, and entertainment outlets. When you actually make a statement based on facts not your opinion, I will start taking you more seriously.

Based on what CommieChimonk? The story your heard on CNN, PBS, CBS, etc, etc.? I have many friends that have been there and back, and still play BF2. And actually, one does have PTSD, has hard time getting any good rest, but he has fun playing a video game, because he has the mental capacity to differentiate the realty from the game. Your a very stubborn person, like myself. I'll give you that, but a big difference here is I speak from knowing a real vet(s), understanding, and ultimately coming from experience. Not the other way around getting my experience from a news or entertainment source.
