Quite the grip angle!

Grip angle is really too steep to be useful - but it seems great in the shop so people buy them.
First step will be to make a new grip.

You're the Bear Grylls of pistols. "New pistol. Time to make a new grip"

Reading through the Pardini pistol description, they tout [the pistol] bolt face and centre of balance are closely connected: this helps to minimise the disturbance of its position while firing as an accuracy enhancing feature.

Not sure I understand their reasoning there.

Bolt face & center of balance doesn't make sense.
If it were bolt center of mass, bolt recoil path axis, pistol center of mass, and bore axis, all in line - that'd make sense.

I understand the M16a1/a2 design having the center of mass along the bore & bolt axis; so (considering the rifle alone) all dynamic recoil forces will be in line with bore axis, not disturbing the point of aim.
Stoner even took that concept to the point of making the gas expansion in the bolt & carrier be in line with the bore axis.
(Hence an M16 will stand on the flash suppressor, when carefully placed on a level concrete floor. IIRC, that's either with 10 rounds in a 20 round mag, or empty)

The slide is off to Novak for sights.

Time to start working on the frame.

All my new parts are from Ed Brown and Wilson Combat.

New beavertail, safety, hammer, hammer strut, sear, sear jig, new pin and spring kit, disconnector, trigger, extractor, ejector, firing pin, recoil spring, plug, recoil spring guide, barrel, and bushing, etc.

There's a a lot more, but as you can see, I'm doing a complete rebuild.

I don't know if I want to get the front strap checkered. Might just add some wrap around Pachmayr grips.

This is almost exactly what the finished gun should look like, minus the grips.

Um

Sight radius - Its on the 220mm limit for that classs of competition pistols.

Centre of balance - Its advertising blurb translated poorly - having all the forces and masses in line, in line with the barrel and the mass of the bolt centred on the overall centre of mass of the gun (although this last point much less) should make for stability during shooting - just like the M16.

Grips - Yes, I'm super-anal about my grips, I'm not really a great shot and like to have every bit of edge I can get and properly fitting grips make a big difference. Plus I like working with wood.

Ammo - There's no need to be super-anal over ammo, provided its smooth, consistent and reliable. Money does not buy wins here, unlike .22 rifle shooting. Average ammo will normally group well enough out of a pistol, as long as it groups inside the X-Ring you have no excuses, just avoid the complete rubbish or anything your gun obviously doesn't like. By reliable I mean no ammo related malfunctions in ~5,000 rnds.
RWS Pistol Match used to be great, I mostly use SK/Lapua Standard, RWS Geco, or CCI Standard Velocity if I'm feeling cheap. CIP and SAAMI specs for .22 are different, Euro guns especially don't like US ammo as its longer.
Eley is good, I used to use a lot of that, but its outrageously expensive here.

In my experience the (UK) Police are the least competent people on earth at handling guns.
