There are actually a decent amount of ad-bots and other vile internet creatures that have good reason to stay on the ban list.
The reality is it is incredibly easy to bypass the ban function by creating a new account. This is widely known (Burnzz, dumdroo and MacB are relevant evidence of this), so one could conclude that those people who were banned have no burning desire to come back to this place.
Many users do create a new account of course, but many also attribute their banned-name to their success here. They can come back to "start-over" but doing so would mean more effort than is worth it.

I think just let the site be and do what it wants. At this stage there's little need for moderation other than anything that really breaches the rules, like pornography or harsh personal attacks. But if people are wanting to come back to post just let them. This includes Androoz IMO
Speaking of Androoz, I notice they banned him and deleted his post in the MJ thread. Whoever this thread is aimed at, it looks like they're pretty content with actively doing the same old shit.
It's a shame that everyone whot's still here don't have any say in the matter. It's like U.S. politics now, everybody at the top does whatever they want and it doesn't really matter what any of the rest of us want. We've been saying clear the banlist(or at least the people who want back in since there's probably bots on the list) and stop re-banning people for a while now. The place is on its last legs after almost 9 years and still being over-modded to death, it's just ridiculous

I like how Ken also says anybody is welcome to come back by just creating a new account but as soon as androoz does they ban him.

It's just following the status quo, which is now years out of date.
Heres what I think should happen: (in chronological order)
Fix search/polls
De-mod all current moderators
Make one or two respectable people mods who's SOLE moderation-purpose is delete bots/spam and banning only the most horrendous users.
Un-ban everyone banned.
The one or two mods will then ban the secondary and tertiary accounts of those who have them after they choose which one to use (i.e. Steve will either get Burnzz or Steve-O but not both)
my vote for mod goes to Ebug

Happened to me once too, AWM from OH for sig size.... its the only AWM I ever received as far as I know.
