Yup. It's pointing in the the complete other direction of my others toes. Shit is broken. I broke it five minutes ago. I'm about to head out to the hospital after I get in the shower after I post this.

Anyway, I'm about about to come face to face with the U.S. health care system right now. I'll post an update when I come back about how much I'm in the hole for a broken pinky toe. I'll also try to take pics of my toe and upload them when I get back.

In the mean time, discuss how much your health care system would charge you for a broken toe and we'll compare it when I get back.

What would it cost me?

Nothing whatever I think, I pay taxes already, casualty treatment is free IIRC.

Would cost me zero, and no, I would not have to wait a week to have it looked at.

i'm not 100% sure. if it went through my uni healthcare, it'd be free since i've paid the semester student association fee (which was about 90 euros). If not it would cost like 17 euros because i haven't paid the policlinic fee this year.

and i dont pay taxes, in your face americans

Not much is done for a broken toe. They'll maybe splint it and wrap it.

Don't pay taxes. Still get NHS.

Who goes to hospital for a broken toe anyway?
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

To the cupboard in the bathroom with the bandages in. All they're gonna do with a broken to is strap it to the one next to it.

Get something to wrap your pinky toe to the adjacent little toe and maybe something tough to put between the two to act as a splint.

That's all you can do for broken toes anyway.

I broke my toe at PT a month back or so. Hurt like hell but I kept going back twice a week anyway. My toe is fine now. Maybe I didn't "Break" it but I seriously messed it up as pressure was painful.

When I was a teenager, I was talking to my girlfriend on the phone, and walked into the bathroom to wash my hands for dinner. When I walked out, my little toe got caught under the door jam in mid-step, and it snapped it to a 90 degree angle off the right side of my foot. The bone pushed through from under the toenail and so the toe nail was standing straight up. I said very calmly to my girlfriend "Well crap... I just broke my toe." She didn't believe me, because I was so calm about it all.

I walked back into the bathroom, sat on the counter, and pored hydrogen-peroxide on the wound. Then I walked into my parent's room and got mom's sewing kit, then into the kitchen and got a lighter and tape. I walked back to my room, snapped it back into place, pulled the skin into place, sterilized the needle with the lighter, sewed it back together using regular black thread, pushed the toenail back down over it and taped it down.

About 3am I woke up with it throbbing really badly. I took the tape off, and it still hurt. I pulled the toenail back up, cut the stitches and removed them, then pushed the toenail back down and taped it, not so tightly. The next day it was sore, but I was fine. I even ended up keeping the toenail (I figured it would fall off).

I don't know why, but I stayed totally calm and logical about the whole thing. When I broke my arm, and saw it bending at freakishly wrong angles, I freaked the eff out. It didn't start hurting until a couple hours later, but I went into an insane screaming and fighting fit. Guess I just wasn't as freaked out about the prospect of something being wrong with my toe.
