I use the "No longer in production" MS Sidewinder Pro...Still hard to beat...Excellent responsiveness and control, as opposed to using the keyboard...Maneuvering in dogfight situations and pulling off realistic stunt work in the process is a breeze...Flying helos and doing pinpoint landings in the Blackhawk is all second nature with it as well...Not arguing anyone's points, just adding my perspective...

GOOD LUCK, GOOD HUNTING OUT THERE, WARRIORS!!!

I really don't know why they stopped making this joystick; it is very well made - I actually have friends who have another 2 and all are the same quality. My only guess is that it was the high price. 15 year olds and their parents arent interested in spending a lot on a good joystick I guess.

I second that! I'm sure chuy will as well.
I third that.  That's the best joystick i've found to fly a plane.

I have a Cyborg Evo and don't like it... Too big and slow... Can't flight helos as this controller overcorrects my moves.

Today I just bought a MS force feedback 2 as new!  WOW costed me US$ 200...

Just give me a few days and I will be able to compare the famous FF against the EVO

i find a mouse + keyboard better than a joystick. i can control the plane with slight adjustments more, and rack up the MG kills when using them. a joystick is a bit better than a sensitive mouse for losing a plane, but overall its not that big a difference as i can lose the opponent either way.

99% mouse+keyboard but i have a logitech $50aus joystick around collecting dust.

I never found a joystick to be necessary in any game I've ever played. All it takes it a steady hand and the right mouse sensativity.
That doesn't mean you'll be any good with it.
Lol so true.

I actually find the logitech extreme, 3D pro, although its good, hurts my hand after a while. if i spend maybe 4 rounds straight in the jets it gets really sore, i think coz of the way its angled forwards. anyone get this sort of RSI from that joystick?

I do agree, mouse and keyboard is great for aiming the MG's, but i always bomb everything i see first, so it doesnt really affect me.

But honestly, M & K is hopeless for evading jets, i always do a vertical helix-shaped spin when trying to evade jets (image what a helix looks like, and im flying up in that direction from the bottom) and trying to do that with M & K is so much more harder, if even possible.

Had it, great for beginners(as I was with BF2 Flight), but the Saitek X-52 Flight System I bought myself is easily 75%-100% better!. I truly loved my Logitech, but it finally was overcome with the notorious right pulling in flight, so I had to replace her.

The most important thing to know about flying is your settings. Do a SEARCH on flight controls= [canada]zenmaster or something has a great Wiki tutorial. Start there and see what works for you.

Lol, reviving a six month old thread.
P.S. For flying I really wish I had a joystick.

MGs in jets > bombs. its so much easier to rack up kills with the MGs if u know what ur doing. them over the bombs any day.

is it possible to use the joystick/mouse/keyboard at the same time? like when i try to evade a plane (whos using a joystick ) its diffulcult using m/k cause theres no way to out maneovre one even if i to a 360 and turn the plane around their still on my ass. with a joystick its probs easier and i could control the plane in f11 where as with m/k using the mg is alrite and bombing runs ok.

Need to get a new mouse/keyboard though as mines pretty crap, hate it to bits a normal Dell K/M , feels like iam doing weights with my fingers.

I use a Micrsoft Force Feedback Pro, bought this thing at a bargain price of £50/$88USD 6 years ago and its still going strong. Its the very first FF Pro with the power supply and stuff its a monster but it does the job. I am a seasoned Microsoft Flight Simulator pilot so find flying with the stick so much easier then the mouse/keyboard. You can do so much more with the stick than you can with the keyboard & mouse combination. The quality the the FF Pro is superb, its comfortable to use and is very sturdy. The buttons are well situated and are all programmable to. It has 8 main fire buttons, an 8 way Hat switch, and a shift button. It also was a throttle slider and twist rudder control.

I am using this along with the Joy2Key program that lets you asign keys to your pad, it works great for games like BF2 and Flight Simulator X Pro. Joy2Key can be downloaded from this link:

http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/Jo … ersion.htm

In my opinion joysticks are far superior to keyboard & mouse setups. After putting some thought into what functions to have on my joystick I can do a variety of things without ever taking my hands off the stick. For example I can do the follwoing drop flares, change camera views from Hud to Rear, change from AA to AG, parachute, spot enemies, use afterburners and more with my hands never leaving it.

I guess it all down to personal preference when it comes to flying, I prefer the joystick as you have more control, yeah its a learning curve, but so is everything. Thats why real pilots spend thousands of hours and learning to fly. SO PLEASE DON'T EXPECT THAT JUST CAUSE YOU HAVE A FLIGHT STICK THAT YOU WILL BE A PRO IN ONE 20 MINUTE SESSION IN SINGLE PLAYER. It takes time and patience to master but when you do, bot do you reap the rewards.

Am not by any means a seasoned vet in aviation in BF2 so for a great guide on what to do and how to fly check out [canada]ZenMasters guide here http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=5321

i borrowed the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro from my buddy cos i was soooo desperate to get into a heli or a jet.. but it drifts to the left esp in the heli. Is there anyway to correct this? i cant seem to find any means to calibrate it, not in the Control Panel either. Or is this like what Ronball had experienced, basically a bad joystick? This joystick is only about 2 months old, and i just started using it 2 weeks ago, practising on single player maps.

it is so frustrating to fly the heli with that particular joystick, as before long it drifts so much that i was upside down kissing the roofs of the BF2 beachfront houses..boom.

i never recall it being so challenging flying a heli (my last heli simulation being MIcroprose's Apache Longbow)..yeah..ages ago
Nope, as the guy above you mentioned, there's a little part that breaks inside it, and then it goes off center.

In earlier posts, someone commented my Logitech was "broken", as it kept veering to the left on heli. Yet, it was ok on jets. I might not have been smart enough to find the calibration option (if there is such a thing) but, is there one? Or is it well and truly broken?
