Thoughts:
I hope it's more like Driver 1 than the other Driver's.
Sounds like you don't get out of the car at all in this one, like Driver 1.
I don't know how I feel about the "Shift" yet.
I think I would enjoy getting out and running to a new vehicle more than 'Shifting' into a new vehicle.
The Driver series has never been great with graphics, but I hope the final game looks a bit better.
Will it have a Survival Mode?
Online play?
Will the burnout button return?

Driv3r was good, making videos using that draw bridge was fun.

Driv3r had some real potential, and great cities as well as looking great for the ps2. But the BUGS! Some of that boggled my mind! The replay feature was great, I spent hours making replays. Then I went back to watch my old ones, and realised that every time i made a new video, the old replay was "forgotten", the car would take a different route, or crash when i hadnt crashed. How is that even possible!

With a bit of polish, i think this could be a great game. BUT:
1. Graphics already looked dated apart from the scrolled out shift.
2. Shift seems like a very lazy development option to avoid having to program for any out of car action.

Driver used to be one of my fav games, it has good driving control but that E3 demo didn't really convince me.

I played the 1st one on PC and Driver 2 on PS1. Fun. Driver 3 was not as exciting as the 1st two parts.

yeah that sucked. In driver 2 there was a hidden Mini Morris in Cuba. You have to do some stuff to get to it but once you got it it was fun. The maps in Driver 2 were Chicago and Cuba or some Cuban city and one more that I can't remember, in Driver the maps were San
n Francisco, Miami and Las Vegas (or was it L.A.?) I think. Good memories

Driver 1 was awesome. The wheel cap would drop off in a hard turn, that was such a great feature back then. Never bothered with the others though.
Not sure I´m going to play this one either, the whole zapping around cause you´re in a coma thing sounds stupid. I never understood why driver needed the possibility to change cars mid-mission anyways. The first one worked great without the stupid on foot parts.

Driver was a great game. All I remember is a night mission where you started off at a parking garage and was supposed to drive to an airport or something. Was listening to Maxim's My web - single on repeat while playing. Fit perfectly to that particular mission

There are two separate download demos on the PS3. One single player (3 missions) and one multiplayer with a few modes.

The script/talking is cheesy. The driving feel and controls are pretty good now that I've played it a little more.

Release date: September 06, 2011

FROM MY ORIGINAL POST:
I hope it's more like Driver 1 than the other Driver's.
Feels different than all of them.

I don't know how I feel about the "Shift" yet.
It's not a bad feature. Quick and easy to change vehicles. It didn't seem to be a problem during multiplayer either.

I think I would enjoy getting out and running to a new vehicle more than 'Shifting' into a new vehicle.
Shifting is nice for a quick transition to another vehicle and keeps the fast paced game play going. While you can use it during missions, you're sometimes transporting someone else so you can't complete the missions since they don't 'Shift' with you. 'Shifting' will probably not be available in some game modes. 'Shifting' will be a great feature for changing vehicles quickly in free roam or before missions (if possible). In one of the demo missions you had to race with 3 other cars. You actually controlled 2 of the 4 cars by 'Shifting' between them during the race.

The Driver series has never been great with graphics, but I hope the final game looks a bit better.
Not bad, but they could be better. The cars look pretty good, but everything else could use some work.

Will it have a Survival Mode?
Not sure. Rumors online state is will be in a Collector's Edition or Down-loadable Content. That's pretty disappointing as thats the mode we used to play the most.

Online play?
Yep, and the few modes the demo lets you play don't seem too bad. Hopefully there is some player vs player police chases as those will probably not get played out as quick.

Will the burnout button return?
I'm disappointed. The burnout button did not return . However the cars will smoke the tires and slide. There is also a boost button that lets you really get a slide going around corners. Very easy to do donuts and slides. It's probably as close as it can be without a specific burnout button.

There are a few view options, but the outside view is closer than I prefer. I'd like to see a 3rd person view that's a little further out. I'd also like to be able to control the view vertically, right now you can only change the horizontal view angle.

As part of what can now only be interpreted as Ubisoft’s ongoing campaign to ensure Driver: San Francisco is the most hated PC game of all time, not only will it include their abhorrent ‘always-on’ DRM (meaning everyone from those without a reliable internet connection to those in the armed forces can’t play it), but there’s also going to be no demo! The consoles get their demo of the game tomorrow, but according to Ubisoft, “There are no current plans for a PC demo.” When we asked why not we were bluntly told, “We have no information on any PC demo planned.”

I loved the first Driver at the time. Loved it to death. I played it again recently, and I have to say it's one of the worst aged games I've ever played.

I'll download the demo for this and give it a go.

I had high expectations for this. I was hoping for it to be like the first Driver and like Yoda I played that to death, even though it was hard as balls. But with the yet again delayed PC version, no Demo and most stupid DRM ever, I´m not touching this one bit.
