Either due to your personal interest in games fading or the arguably declining gaming industry, has your career as a gamer peaked? Is the best title you were ever meant to play a sweet memory or waiting to be unwrapped?

It has to do with not being able to spend hours each day playing.

Probably... I'm bored of it, was actually thinking of selling my comp and doing a more mid range photo-video computer and getting a paintball gun.

Until games become neuro-interacive, and we're actually in the game, I'd say I've probably peaked.  I just don't have the time or interest anymore.

I don't view it as there ever being a best game of my life. But I've played some very standout games that there has been nothing like them before and probably won't be ever again. And then there are also games that I've beaten literally hundreds of times because I just enjoy them so much and find them that satisfying.

However, for the sake of the thread and this poll... I don't think I've played the best game of my life. There's not a singular game that stands out in my mind (multiple come to mind as being great games). Furthermore, I don't think I ever will come across a game that I can say will be the best of my life. It is not downhill from here, as there is no hill.

I´m getting more bored of this game called RL. Shitty graphics, repetitive gameplay, shit gets to me

Id say so.

Back in the day of MOHAAS in clans with ranks, BF2 stats, and the nade-fested bullet-spamming fun of CoD4 surely had its moments. Nowadays it mostly consists of MW2, which I believe is my decline in the video gaming world. I can usually find time to play, its just that I think the communities back then made every bit of gaming so much more fun.

Nothing ever beat clan wars in MOHAAS with bolt-action rfles only. Some great times in great maps with great people.

Now Im going to stop before this gets emotional and thus potentially homoerotic.

I hope not. While BF2 is the top for me I hope another game, I pray BF3, takes its place.

If any other game can last over 4 years, getting close to 5 years, and counting with me playing it thousands of hours and still play it regularly, I'd be like

I think that the best games have not yet been produced, but more fun was had with previous games.

You have only played the best game of your life if you cant overcome nostalgia.

Even if the next 200 games made are horrible, all it needs is one game with the story/dedication/passion put into it as some of the older games combined with much improved sounds, graphics and gameplay options (ie. physics engines).

I won't know until it's happened. Been a gamer for decades, and the only thing I see myself doing is putting a kibosh on acquisition so I can play the games I already have.

Serious Sam: First Encounter provided me with an abundance of fun in both singleplayer and multiplayer shortly after it came out.
Since I haven't played the HL series yet, I can't comment (I'm saving them all for the greatest gaming week in history.)

If I thought the best game ever to be created has already happened I may as well stop now.
I'm still having fun. I don't think in terms of "best" game, it's like saying what's the best food, or best movie. Depends on my mood and what I feel like playing tbh.

Each day is a desperate attempt to relive the excitement I felt when playing. Each day since has been an utter failure to experience the same feeling of utter joy. I sit on the edge of my seat, watching the installation progress bar count up the notches, praying to every god that this will provide with the same ecstasy inducing aura of pleasure I long for. There is no other purpose in life. It has a hold of me, I am addicted as a junkie to heroin is.

What was the game I hear you ask?

Serious face:

I'm still having fun. Perhaps the most addicted to a game I've been is when I was playing WoW. Each night it was "one more quest, one more level, one more monster. ONE. MORE. INSTANCE. RUN. I actually skipped many days of school, just to play. Can't remember how many nights I stayed up until up to 7AM just playing that game. Thankfully, as soon as I hit the level cap, I became disinterested, as there was no incentive to keep playing. Killing Alliance was boring, since you didn't even get anything for it (except honor points). Much better in Runescape where you'd actually turn a profit from PvP.

I felt the same sense of addiction in Bad Company 2, when I was unlocking the new weapons. It would actually make me get out of bed early just to play and unlock some more. When I unlocked every weapon, however, my interest climaxed, and now I play a lot less, and without the addictive feeling.

I download every new title to see if I can get the addictive feeling back, as frankly it's fantastic. It stops you eating and sleeping just so you can play.

What was the question again?

HL is quite dated now. Most FPS games rip elements from it regularly.

I don't think anything will surpass a special few games I've played over the years. Including LoZ: OoT, Deus Ex, Perfect Dark, Smash Bros etc. etc. Every so often a new game will get fairly close for SP or MP/Co-Op, and will be added to the list but daaaaaayum...

Ocarina of Time and Deus Ex seriously. fucking. rocked.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

I've had the same experience with BC2. Unlocked all weapons the other day, ran around and realised I needed to be using a 40mm nade or M60 to have any chance, kicked a bit of arse for a couple rounds, game crashed, went on BF2 and picked the engy class (US shottie ftw) and proceeded to have a lot of fun squadding with the usual players on a pub server (jrkyboys for those in Aus) and still felt the whole "I'm getting a bit closer to Colonel" feeling that spurs me on. The fact people actually talk and we have all sorts of funny things happen we all laugh about makes it a really social experience that I still haven't quite gotten tired of yet.

Then I realised it was 6am and I'd been playing for 7 hours, logged off and went to bed.

Can't say I have played a good game after BF2. Fun yes, but nothing I could potentially play as much as I have played BF2
