If you got the golden potato thing the reward was the Valve Complete Pack on your account including Portal 2. You of course already owned all/almost all of these and so won pretty much nothing, while feeling rather ripped off by Portal 2 by them then saying "You didn't have to buy it after all" (Old news)

If you restart Steam you now have a giftable version of every single duplicate game from the pack to give someone . I do. Including Portal 2.

I was actually thinking my dad for Portal 2. He recently played the first game (A free Portal 1 from the pre-order bonus) and it's the first 'proper' game he's ever played. And first PC first person game (at the start he didn't know he had to use the mouse, causing an almost instant half in progress. And stuff. He soon picked it up though. And he finished it earlier today. It's pretty cool.

So I think he'd like it.

Seriously though, offering a 'bargain' package of $35.00 to unlock content on release day? This isn't additional content. This is all stuff that's on the media, ready to go, day zero. That shouldn't be DLC. It should be free.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Played from 1 AM to 7 AM and then from around 3-7 today with an hour break, so around 9 hours or so gameplay. Some levels really had me stumped, but eventually got through them. Gonna be doing co-op over the weekend. The MOOOOOOOOOOOON. Loved the story, fucking awesome, but as usual so many questions. Why was Cave Johnson's original Aperture Science testing facility all locked up? What happened to the whole Borealis reference that was supposed to be there? The only thing I see is that in one of Cave Johnson's offices there's a lifevest. Fucking fun as hell though. Definitely enjoyed it, and it was good to game on a computer again instead of my Xbox.

So now what does Chell do... obviously the Earth hasn't been completely taken over by the combine, since it's supposedly 20 years after HL2 takes place. It certainly doesn't seem like there'll be a Portal 3, but supposedly Ep 3 is next.

The soundtrack was also fucking epic, especially the hidden song from The National.

Also: I'm in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace

Just surprised that it took that long. I hear most people saying around 6 hours.

Cave Johnson part was tough. The Room with the single White tube and nothing else gave me a run for my money. As well as the last leg of there where you have to climb the elevator shaft or something. I found the Wheatley levels tough too, they kinda fucked with conventional logic.

I think the whole game is very clever. I paided $45 for it, but I don't think its worth $60 though. One of the things that crossed my mind was how people complained about the length of Homefront's single player, but they are just fine with the same length for Portal 2.(Just comparing the length.)

Difference is that Portal 2's is hugely polished and a joy to play from start to finish and Homefront is Homefront. There is a lot more to SP campaigns than how many hours they take.
