There was a wallpaper posted here ages ago that updated live images of the world (showing night/day ect...), does anybody know the name of it?

Mine looks the same as menzo's and I'm using FM's link.

Just downloaded EathView (the one that OP is using) - it looks like it's pretty configurable, so can probably change the darkness of the dark.

I had to get that moon phase gadget Kmar, thanks!

Original desktop size was 3200x1200. It was over 3.6Mb so had to shrink it down to 2Mb at 1995x748 for the pic upload
I have a 24' in at 1920x1200 and a 20' level with the 24' at 1280x1024, I dont see the black box under the right monitor, I just miss that part of Antarctica!

I love this desktop!
