Did you enjoy CoD4 for an extended period of time?

By extended I mean a month or more.

Anyways, the gimmickry seemed to wear off pretty quickly for most people I know who played it. With all the kiddies psyched for CoD4:2 and all the classic CoD players whining about it, I think it would be a good idea to see if any of you actually enjoyed CoD4 enough for it to be worth a buy.

I'm gonna vote yes, but barely. When it first came out, I probably enjoyed it for 5 or 6 weeks (but that's also including single player). Then quit playing for 6 months or so, then went back and played another month of multiplayer, then quit again. Since then, any of the few times I went back to play it, I quit after 1 round or less.

I rented it yesterday. So far it's fun. The Ukraine level is pretty sick. There's something about the CoD style that I don't like too much though. Something to do with the "keep spawning npcs until X arrives here". The ai, while being smart and challenging seem too scripted and fake.

Yeah I was already used to the CoD style and it was alot like CoD 2 but Modern and a few tweaks here and there. I wasn't expecting much of the game but it surprised me. Played it for a good few months, nothing crazy, but it was good fun.

Only ever played hardcore mode for the most part. Was fed up of shooting someone getting the jump on them only for them to somehow survive and then kill me with a headshot even if I hit them so many times. Hardcore mode meant niggas dropped when niggas be shot.

Yeah I know you guys don't like that word but it's the only way to describe shit.

I really, really wanted to like CoD4's multiplayer, but I just couldn't find it fun.

CoD4 is basically CSS but with more spraying and spam.

I enjoyed the singleplayer. I thought it wasn't too bad of a storyline. I thought multiplayer was downright horrible. I didn't like the color scheme at all. I do still play WAW though.

I had fun with the single player. the only reason I got bored with multi player with this and waw was because I would spend half the round trying to hook up with friends. if there were squads like bf2 and bigger maps I would still be playing it daily.

Multiplayer was enjoyable for the reason that I play games for fun. Not to kill the most people in the shortest amount of time, not to get ranks, but more to run around doing suicidal things and maybe stab someone in the face.

Though GTA is better for that kind of thing.

Loved it. However, I'd only play on hardcore servers because I thought the realism was the only major let down.

Surviving a .50 cal hit to the chest but if a knife scrapes your foot you die...

Search and Destroy on hardcore was great fun though.

I've been able to enjoy it because I found a server community where most people aren't complete imbeciles. It's somewhat boring after you rank up to 55 though, as there's not much to look forward to then except unlocking red and blue camo that I won't use.
