Hey people. Just started playing CoH so I'm learning the ropes. I have been playing some auto-matches and regular hosted games. For the most part I get the whole micromanage thing, read and watched a few tutorials. I mostly get my ass kicked. No matter what army I am. The other team a lot of times has multilple halftracks, or light armor up in no time. Along with multiple squads of inf. I don't understand how the resources are gathered so quickly, assets built, and units produced. Maybe I just suck.
Fuck tutorials. Download saved games on the web from the players in the top 10 of the leaderboards, that's how I learned. And what way you build things and what to build varies on the gametype. Let me show you.
In a 1v1 playing as Wher, I always go-
Start with 1 Pio; build another to have a total of 2 Pio squads> Get them to build a Whermacht Quarters, first out is a Volks squad(Or MG/Bike if it's brits), then an Bike and another volks and 1 MG.
It's very important to not camp MG's and such in building, always have them moving around. This is where your micro will come to play, if you do it will you'll have the game won.
And I normally get map control(fueld points are important) cause I rush to T4 and get an Ostwind and P4 then vet my tanks.
For the Americans, I always build a rax straight away and make 3 Rife squads, then a Jeep and go for tanks(or BAR if I get the fuel points). You really have to manage the 3 squads well if you blob them like a nub and don't manage them individualy an MG will rape you and game over. Also, anything that's in cover, run your Rifles onto them.
It's mainly down to getting a routine for each encounter, eventually you'll use your initiative to judge what to build in situations. Watch the leaderboard guys replays and you'll see they normally start the same way.
Ain't played CoH in ages ;(
