I want to meet the 7 idiots that voted for "Islam". Sure, let's have a land of burkas, sand, camels and a 1 way ticket to hell. C'mon. While we're at let's not discount the luxury of getting to blow yourself up. Which 7 idiots want that? Heck, it's no wonder why all the Muslims move over here. Even they don't like the Middle East.
Personally I like the post above that talked about "British practice of strapping rebels to the mouths of cannons". I think that sounds like a very good policy. Better yet, stuff them in the cannon and see which one flies the furthest. The winner gets shot. The losers get drowned. It could be a new Olympic sport.

Don't worry Eagle... I made that mistake with my veteran medic badge. I was medic whoring like crazy til I realized I was 20 hours short.... you're in good company! -MonkezUncle
Cos,
I'll give a little more info. Yes, it was incredibly weird. I sent an update to the folks at EA who were helping me troubleshoot the issue and they were fairly stumped. Basically I was playing 2142 like normal. I look at my pts and I am 30 pts over the next rank. So, I go to unlock. No unlock, no next rank. So I do log out/log in thing. Switch servers, etc. No promotion. So I figure what the heck... I'll keep playing the promo will catch up with me. Well I got several hundred pts past the promo spot and then there was a map switch and boom, couldn't load the map. It would get to the 50% mark and hang. So I say screw this... I'll go back to BF2. I start playing and before you know it I am 100 pts past the promotion mark. No new rank, no new unlock. Long story short I did everything... reload game, reload drivers, etc. No success. I updated punkbuster, it only showed an update for 2142 and then bang... all these promotions, awards and unlocks come rolling in. My suggestion to EA was to make it an FAQ b/c I have a feeling (after reading all the different forum posts) that I am not the only one. Very weird issue but hopefully it will help some people. I'm just glad I did not loose all the unlocks... EA's response was that there were "intermittent" rank issues with "select players". Hope this helps someone else! I guess we need to add "update Punkbuster" to the "When BF doesn't work" suggestions. Thx Cos...! -MonkezUncle

Sisco... I just read this on your sig..." jeeze i wish there was a way to kill people through the internet - psH " Freakin' hysterical. I agree. Maybe not kill but at least hit them w/ a nice elctro-shock. -MonkezUncle
Thx for all that responded. Issue had to do w/ punkbuster. Once I updated... boom... got the rank and unlock in BF2 and 2142 as soon as I logged back in. Thx guys! -MonkezUncle
Dec... check your punkbuster settings. I finally figured out what happened with me (even the techs @ EA were stumped). For some reason my punkbuster was not updated/functioning right and it would not let me level up, etc. I updated it an boom, got like 3 unlocks and a whole ton of stuff as soon as I started playing again. For whatever reason this effected BF 2 and 2142. Hope it gets better! -MonkezUncle
Thx... but I am now having this problem on BF2 as well. 5160 points and I can not get the Staff Sgt rank. Anyone know what to do now? -MonkezUncle
Quick question... I'm new to 2142 (old to BF2) and I am having a little issue with the ranks. If I understand it correctly there is no time req for the ranks, just points. Currently the BFHQ shows me having 380/330 points. But it will not give me the rank (corporal) that comes with the 330 point mark. I don't really care about the rank... I want the freakin unlock! I have tried all the usual tricks (log in/out, restart, wait, etc) but it's been about 72 hours and I keep accruing points past the 330 mark with no rank award. Help!
P.S. What is this veteran's program that I saw so many posts on? thx!

As you can see on the Middle East Service Ribbon, I did get the ribbon WITHOUT playing all the maps! But the same is not true for Far East and USMC. Weird huh? I heard someone is staring a infantry only server for the lesser played maps so hopefully I can pick those up.
Thx for all the great help!

Definitely a yes on fully destructible environments. There is no way some tree should be able to stop my tank.
On that note, a little more reality with the weapons would be nice. If you shoot a guy in the leg with a .50 cal sniper rifle, there is no way he is going to turn, run, jump twice and then shoot back. Granted, in reality he's not dead, he just has one leg and one stump now. SO he should be a little easier to finish off.
Large/Huge maps What would be really cool would be dynamic maps. Maybe ones that change slightly each reload so that they don't be come predictable after a while (always a sniper on top of the hotel, arty and UAV in the same place, etc).
A little more balance on air assets. Look, if a HELICOPTER is headed into the carrier on Wake and I loose EIGHT SAM's at it there are no counter measures in the world that will stop that thing from becoming a nice big explosion. Same with ground fire. If A chopper does one of it's slow strafes and I am perpendicular to it on a machine gun for 5-10 secs there is no way that thing is doing anything but auto-rotating to the ground.
Damage affects specific functions on vehicles. I like the post that said if you send a TOW into the tracks on a tank that tank is immobile. YES! If you put 50 rounds into the back of a FAV the passengers are toast... maybe the driver can limp away but the guys in the back are gone. None of this bail out just before it blows up and then they are still at 95% health.
No more parachutes for infantrymen jumping off a building. It's in the ejection seat or you are screwed.
A good single player version w/ campaign like in MOH or BF1942. That way when servers or down or just for practice people don't have to learn things in game.
Keep all the stats reporting!
Do not restrict commander to higher ranks only... some of the best players are incredible at playing but suck at leading and there are some newer players that can't seem to drive a tank in a stright line yet but are great commanders. However, there should be a squad leader req (10 wins as squad leader, 500 SL pts, etc) before you can command.
MLRS!!! (multiple launch rocket system)
Make the building more complex and accessible. Also, make the ability to kill someone in a building reasonable... if there is a sniper in a room and I launch a TOW into it... everyone in that room and the rooms on either side should be very dead. No more, "everyone on the other side of the drywall is just fine".
Spawn inside a building that only the team holding that base/spawn point can get into (w/ multiple exit points) so there is no more spawn kill.
Commanders get points for arty kills!!! Definitely keep arty!!!
I like the concept that was proposed above about having the commander be able to remove himself from the action and have a control room. Somewhere with much more control over the battle including multiple screens and a dedicated UAV screen. Also, more squad commands. I'd love to be able to say, "attack here, capture the CP and then go over there". There should also be a way to customize squads or remove squad leaders who are not listening. Maybe even support for those of us who have multiple monitors so we can do split screen (but only while commanding or you're going to have knuckleheads try to put 4 20 inch monitors together. )?
Ability to turn your head to look around without moving your whole body.
Somewhat customizable weapons load out. No spec ops solider in the world would go into battle with a 9mm. All the SEALs I know have .45's. Same thing with Claymore's. Also, an assault solider should be able to trade a grenade for a claymore or a flashbang. Like SWAT 2 & 3.
On kick vote, if you are trying to kick someone on your own team (i.e. for glitching or blowing up your own vehicles, ramming, team kills, etc) you should not need everyone to vote. If 50% of your own team wants a team member gone... kicked he should be!
Awards/medals should NOT be play-time dependent. It is ridiculous to need 50 hours playing.... if you can get the IAR or cumulative requirements in one round or 1 year, medals should be performance dependent, not time dependent.
Awards should not be map dependent... i.e. no severs are currently running Shounga Stalemate so it is very hard to get the Far East medal right now.
Here's a thought... would it be possible, just like in real life, to specialize. Have all the ranks and awards dependent on your branch of service and your MOS? And then have skill set unlocks specific to that MOS? Maybe even do what America's Army did and have "schools" that you need to complete before you can level up? I.e. Snipers have to prove the ability to hit 10 out of 20 targets. etc.
Anti Personal Mines!!!
Adjustable zoom on scopes
You should be able to "time the grenade". Meaning grenades have, depending on the grenade, 3-5 sec fuses. So if I want to kill a guy that is 10 feet from me, I pull the pin, release the spoon and hold it for a 1-2 sec, then throw. That way it's not sitting on the ground for 4 secs while the guy runs away (or worse yet, jumps up, runs at me and shoots me in the head).
Realistic re-cocking time on bolt action rifles. 1) You do not need to come off target when recocking. 2) It does not take 2 secs to recock... especially on the Barrett M95 which is a straight pull bolt. 3) There is no reason for the gun to come up almost vertical when recocking... all that does is obscure your field of vision and show movement to the enemy.
Realistic damage inflicted. Ok, the .223 is a pathetically small round. But if I put 2-3 into a sniper's chest he is dead. Not kinda dead. Not mostly dead. Not reviavably dead. He is dead. Ok maybe a good trauma surgeon could save him b/c God still does miracles but there is no way he is going to get revived 5 secs later by a medic and then roll over and put one in the back of my head as I am moving down the alleyway (minus Divine intervention of course).
Since this post is getting longer then I thought... ... last but not least, have a way to disable/remove claymores, mines, etc. Maybe only engineer's can do that but it should be able to be done. And if you remove them maybe you can add them to your inventory to use later?

I did not see this server on the BF2 server list. Can I get an ip or someway to find it? thx! -monkezuncle
Mtb... thx for the answers. I wish someone would amend the UBAR stuff to explain that as it would have saved many hours of frustration... ! Probably for others too!
So, now that I have those awards "unlocked" (for lack of a better term), I need to meet the IAR requirement now, even if I have already done it previously? thx!
And not trying to argue the pt... just confused, I got the Far East ribbon without playing all the maps... how come I need to play all the Mec and USMC maps for those 2?
Stubbeee... how do I post a link to my stats?
Thx guys for the quick answers! -monkezuncle

Flaming is right... there is no way to "steal" the gold. Besides, commander pts are also based on team performance (# of pts, divided by players still living at rounds end), as well as your own. So, while the 2x bonus can help boost a commander over the top of another player, it really only happens when the commander is doing a decent to good job in that round.
And yes... I did read all the posts I could find about this before posting.
I've been playing now for a few months and I have 4 questions on stats vs. Medals. Who ever answers this will probably need to spend a few minutes checking my stats first. Thx in advance!
1) If I understand correctly, per the UBAR page, there are 2 ways to get most medals, IAR requirements (so many kills, heals, etc in 1 round) or cumulative requirements (50hrs of play, etc). Why then, when I have already met the IAR requirements, does the badge/medal not show up until after I have the IAR AND the cumulative requirement? For example, I just got 28 resupplys in 1 round but did not get the veteran resupply badge. It shows I still have several hours to go on that. Is that a glitch? It happened that way on the veteran Command Badge too. I had been commander for 30 mins at a time multiple rounds but did not get the badge until I hd the IAR requirements PLUS the 1k command points. B/c of this I am missing about 8 medals or ribbons that my stats show I should have. So what gives?
2) I may be misunderstanding team points but, from what I have read on line, team points are any points besides combat points (so resupply, heal, revive, etc count but kill points and CP capture points do not... right?) Assuming that is correct, I had a round a few days ago where I medic-whored (yeah, sorry, I wanted the Distinguished service ribbon or Valorious Unit Ribbon). I was in a squad and got 58 team points, more then enough for both badges. Didn't get either one! So, I am confused. Do I need to be squad leader.... commander... lonewolf... what?
3)On the Far East Service Ribbon, my stats show that I met the requirement on every map except Shougna Stalemate. If I read the UBAR info right, all you needed to do was meet the requirement on 1 map. So, shouldn't I have this one. And if not, how do I get it since none of the servers run the Shounga Stalemate map? Same goes for USMC medal. I did get the far east one already and I never have played 1/2 the maps listed on the UBAR info page.
4) On the UBAR stats page, some of the badges have underlines under them... what does that indicate?
ok... sorry for the long post. Any help is appreciated! Thx for the great site/info/forum! -MonkezUncle
