llinois Sen. Barack Obama, called this afternoon for troop withdrawal from Iraq starting next year and negotiations with Iran and Syria over the war-torn country's future.

In a speech sure to draw political fire, the Democrat told attendees of a Chicago Council on Global Affairs event downtown that withdrawal should begin in the next four to six months and that those soldiers should be moved to Afghanistan to focus on terrorist groups again gaining strength in that country.
Announcing our war plans to the world is standing up and saying " Thank you, I'm a dipshit."

If these dumb ass hacks in Washington have a plan don't you think they talk about it in private?
This is political petty bullshit sound byte politics and has no bearing on national policy. Obama is simpy adding his voice to the chorus of babbeling heads to get attention. I think he ought to be authoring a bill or, sitting on a commitee...I dunno, doing something senators do before he is taken seriously.

The enemy wants us to cut and run, to face humiliation. Why do the democrats? What long term gain will be had be us appearing weak and irresolute?

When you can balance the budget and get Congress and the President to agree on spending cuts in other areas to account for the military spending necessary for staying in Iraq, then we'll talk about staying the course.

Until then, withdrawal is the only viable fiscal option we have.

Imagine if the situation was reversed, and somebody was talking about negotiations with Canada and Mexico over a war-torn US's future?

Wow, I'm almost with out words. But I'm not so, Ill ask you a question. On the simplest in-terms theoretical situation here, so stay with me.  Your best friend pissed off some idiot , now the idiot and his friends expect your best friend to fight it out. Your friend is going to make this fight, with you or with out you. What do you do? Stand by him or look for other issues, to not stand by him?

Commitment. Integrity. What happened to all you Flag Wavers, 6 months after 911? This country hasn't seen that kind of Patriotism and watching and loving our neighbors probably since the end of WWII.
The cost of war in 2006 dollars:
  • World War II $3.6 Trillion USD
  • Vietnam $536 Billion USD
  • Iraq-Afghanistan/Global War on Terror $502 Billion1
  • Korean War $364.5 Billion
  • World War I $ 207.3 Billion
  • 1991 Persian Gulf War $82.5 Billion

So how can this argument over social/political programs be overshadowed by the future of our way of life. It has changed since that day, but don't you all want to keep the same day to day life with out having to know how to use a gun if you don't know how? Terrorists will attack this country, don't be blind  in saying that I am just trying to instill fear in people. I have served this country, and would die for any of you , even if you disagree with my own beliefs, I think that is a beautiful thing. I just don't think I will ever understand why some would like to just give up.

My point is either you are with your friend or your not. You cant have it both ways. Why would you want to give up or not support your friend. Simple Decision, you can't waffle one way or the other.

While I respect the fact that you've served, I have to ask you....  Do you really think Iraq is worth dying over?  This isn't about protecting America, this is about salvaging a country that is self-destructing as we speak.  I feel no kinship or duty in reference to preserving Iraq.  Yes, we helped Saddam rise to power, and now, we've removed him.  However, the rest of this mess is up to the Iraqi people, not us.  We're just wasting money and lives over there.

I agree with Obama's idea, whether or not people feel like public disclosure of the plan has occurred.  The American people want a timetable, so Obama has provided one.

By the way, if my "best friend" acted as dysfunctional as Iraq does, I'd disown him.

I agree.  America is just too stubborn to understand defeat.  It took a severe beating with Vietnam before we grasped that concept.

well if you consider the main objectives ...yeah I'd have to say it was a defeat.

You don't even have a shred of the causes of the war, how else would you like defeat to be described by?

not to mention the majority of the camps that were standing in kuwait even before the invasion have been taken down.  seriously, nobody I knew had any whimsical fantasy like ideas of going to Iraq and leaving within a couple of weeks.  we all knew that its gonna be about attrition.

thankyou US media for letting everybody at home thinking we are losing.

why do you think the insurgency is killing Iraqis more and more frequently.  because they realise a military victory against the united states is impossible.   those bastards got psychological operations too. too fucking bad theirs is more fucking effective I guess.

the very reason you believe it is a defeat is the very reason why they might possibly win.

Vietnam was a defeat.  6 months after we pulled out North vietnam attacked South vietnam anyway

of course we would have won had our military been allowed to go onto North Vietnamese soil and Cambodian soil...

I would not say the Iraq war is defeat.  The Iraq war has already been won, what we are doing now is trying to build a stable government that can try and get the rest of the arab stats to follow, which is far more difficult

incorrect sir.  the north was always fucking around  in the south and the south did not fall until 75.  the united states pulled out in 73

See now i stated that there is no evidence for us to even be in the region and all you can respond with is that they are winning due to the media. So if the terrorist "win" what do you think will happen?

The war was so damn pointless, considering there is no terror link to it nor do the sanctions placed on Iraq constitute acceptable practices by IGOs. So if the UN breaks IL it kinda defeats the purpose of its very existence.

ive posted many times in the that I do not feel we ever belonged there.  so Im not gonna argue that with you dipshit.  Im saying we are fucking kicking ass and we got people in the states so quick to jump on the "OMG, PEOPLE ARE DYING THE US IS LOSING" band wagon.  the fucking cold, rock hard truth is that we ARENT FUCKING LOSING.  there is no military defeat.  the only defeat the United States will see is the one that people of this nation will bring upon ourselves from the comfort of their own living rooms.  Success doesnt boost ratings, why report it.  the media makes me sick.  just so you know, I was US Army infantry in the heart of the god damn sunni triangle for 12 months out of my young life and I was shocked and on the verge of shame to get home from Iraq to think actually find out that we were losing the fight.  since when?  it is that defeatest talk thats gonna lose the war.

WHO FUCKING CARES ABOUT WHETHER WE BELONG THERE OR NOT.  WE ARE THERE NOW.  FRUSTRATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hoped you would be able to figure that one out by yourself. It is really quite simple when you see how bad a president Bush is and what he has done to your contry compared to what maybe Al Gore could have done instead.
