If you don't think your vote matters, recall the close elections we've had in the past few years. An election won by a wider margin is less likely to cause the consternation of incessant recounts. If anything, turn in a ballot for that reason.

I've been trolling through the State of Washington voter's pamphlet. If there's three things I hate, they're:
1. "Vote for me" statements written in the third person or, more likely, by a hired technical writer.i
2. "Vote for me" statements that do nothing but attack the above/below candidate while refusing to state the changes they'd make.ii
3. "Vote for me" statements written with excessive use of bold, italicized and underlined font. This was a problem in 2004, but has thankfully not been repeated this year [edit](at least on my pamphlet)[/edit].
i. Candidate 1 is the Dean of the Washington State Congressional delegation, has built a well deserved reputation...his leadership...salmon runs and protect Hood Canal offer further evidence that Candidate 1 is a leader we can trust...Candidate 1, the son of a Bremerton Shipyard worker...we can rely on Candidate 1 to put his experience to work...Candidate 1 recognizes the importance of ensuring...Candidate 1, our voice in Congress, would appreciate your continued support... Ugh.
ii. It's time for a change of representation in our distract. I [Candidate 2] have challenged the incumbent [Candidate 1] because of his poor policy choices in recent years. He championed the Iraq War without thinking of the long term consequences...Catch 22 situation...favorite Congressmen of out-of-state contractors...rushed into Iraq...supporter of racial preferences as evidenced by his recent cheerleading for an expansion of local Tribal gaming...Contemporaneous with his decision to support government subsidies...has not lived for any substantial length of time in our district for the better part of four decades...serves out-of-state campaign contributors... Double-ugh.
