Simple questions, do you think we have improved morally since the middle ages?

Edit: Sorry about the gramatical screw up on title

I'd say no.  Nice topic. this is on my mind alot.  What ever happend to the days where a white flag on a battlefield meant "no fight" and two opposing commanders could meet? Now, as soon as THAT meeting was concluded a rocket from a REAL UAV would launch up the enemy's ass and end things real quick. Not that they didn't deserve it.   Or, asking a father for his daughter hand in marriage? simple things...

But on a more real not.  Insurance companies fuck thier contract holders everyday to the point that the government has to step in. Politicians are bought and sold easier than ever. Guys fuck thier best friends girlfriends, co-workers fuck thier fellow workers at any opportunity (ive bled from the ass on this one), siblings go to legal war over money, corperate executives shaft shareholders and lower level employees with shady deals.

Not that this is all new, but the human race (Generally) has learned how to be more efficient at being immoral. Sure, deception and back stabbing has occured throughout time, but it seems just everywhere anymore.  Internet scammers, fake charities, shady contract holders, corperate greed *cough EA*, and flat out apaty towards potential victims has turned alot of the world into a paranoid and untrustworthy world. It doesn't have to be that way, in an Ideal sense, but it is. Oh well, I gotta go, i just saw an old lady trip and fall and she hasn't yet grabbed her purse off the road......

I think the global "we" have come a long way in the sense that normative ideas have changed, but tribalism (what are nations and religions if not extremely large tribes) and hatred still are extant.

Does it really matter? Morals are 100% pointless.

I think its absolutely pointless that you are posting on this thread if that is your contribution. Now go put a hat on and sit in a corner.

I think that we have not improved morally. If you look at the society around you, I believe the main people think about is money. People will screw you over for money. Oil companies, supermarkets, EA DICE, etc.

True, but ask most people and they'll agree that those things are unqualified bads. Like I said, normative ideas have changed (ie. what should people do) even though the reality is that there are still a lot of people that will simply do what they want regardless of who or what it affects.

maybe you should first explain what a moral is and how it was in the middle ages... than you can compare!

I would expect most people to know this already. If you dont, then look it up.

As for what is a morale, other people understand what I am talking about so maybe you should pull out the old dust dictionary.

I believe that we have improved morally because of many reasons:
In the middle ages war was normal, if you weren't happy with something one would use force to enfore your own ideas. Now we have organisations that help us prevent this such as UN, etc. This is of course only one justification, I am only trying to get a debate going. However, we do have the advantage of hindsight and we can look back on history and learn from other's mistakes. In the middle ages. they did not have the benefit of recorded history, etc.
