In the USA there are many people who are not members of any pro-gun group that feel the firearm rights should not be infringed upon. I do not believe pro-gun group membership participation is an accurate way to determine the actual thoughts/wishes of a society. How many people believe that abortion is wrong yet not part of an anti-abortion movement? People don't like to join groups and a lot of people don't like to vote or feel their vote will not make a difference.Vilham wrote:
Because less than 1% of the population is in pro gun groups, if other people wanted guns they would join the pro gun groups.
I think the reason why most of the anti-gun people are anti-gun is because the only information they get about firearms is what the media/government tells them. They don't know the truth about responsible firearm ownership or current firearm laws. People see an AK47 and assume it’s a full auto, they hear that a gun holds 15 rounds and think that’s a lot of bullets. Most anti-gun people have never tried to shoot a gun. People are scared of things they don't know or understand. Almost every anti-gun person I have ever met doesn't know a damn thing about current firearm laws and has never fired a gun. There are more gun laws on the books than anything. What we need is strict enforcement of the current laws, not more laws and definitely not a ban. There are criminals who get caught with a stolen gun (missing serial numbers) and basically get a slap on the wrist. There are felons that get caught with a firearm and maybe serve a couple more years. There are criminals with rap sheets a mile long carrying a firearm and committing crimes. These repeat offenders are the problem and perfect place to start. There are way more good people in this world than bad people. Instead of punishing everyone for the mistakes of the few, we should get rid of the few.
Exactly my point, thank you.nodehopper wrote:
That is RIDICULOUS !!! I don't want to see dogs hurt or mass slaughter of dolphins .....but I am not a member of PETA !!!
So every American who is not a card carrying member of the NRA is anti-gun ???
