I've only been out of the U.S. twice to Canada and Ireland(when I was young) but I'd have to say in order of dangerious.

1. New Orleans I didn't see that on the list, did it get disquilified this year. No Joke I was there with a band and when the songs ended you could here gun violence)
2. Camdan NJ.. the place they have concerts is safe but don't wonder off the beaten path cause it's nothing but borded up houses and criminals, think "Escape from New York" but in a smaller scale.
3. Washington DC. Is a really scarey place, it's a shit hole.
4. Pittsburg PA, Was walking around in the middle of the night went down the wrong path and started steeping on crack viles every step.

In the US: New Orleans when it was the murder capital of the US (it led in both murder rate and absolute number), I lived there for 10 years (1982-1992) during which there was a police strike (1987-88).

As far as when I felt most personally threatened it was probably while travelling to Sao Paulo, Brazil. The police there are terrifying and considering that I look like a local, I was subject to quite a bit of hassle until I could convince them I wasn't Brazilian.

Chechnya, Russia
Russia is quite a dangerous location in its own right, however the rebellious province of Chechnya takes danger to a whole new level. Just say the name, Chechnya, it sounds scary doesn't it? And if anyone has ever seen the movie Beyond Borders (no one has) they would know that's where Angelina Jolie's character dies in the film. And I'm sorry if I just ruined that movie for you.

Equatorial Africa
Some African countries are doing well, but it seems that the equatorial African countries are having the hardest time coping. And while the apes of the Congo, Rwanda, & Uganda make for an appealing reason to visit, it's best to tread carefully on this ground.

Israel
Israel while being the birthplace of the Abrahamic religions is a very dangerous place to visit. As if being the birthplace of modern day religions couldn't have told you that already.

Iraq
Birthplace of civilization & formerly known as a welcoming & inviting place for travellers. Things have changed quite a bit now in Iraq, partially due to the fact that all of the foreign visitors now carry weapons, & who would welcome that?

North Korea
North Korea, what can be said about North Korea? Well it's North Korea. I think that's enough, & while other countries may be communist, such as China & Cuba, always remember there is a strong difference between communism & North Koreanism.

Serbia
Serbia is by far one of the more dangerous nations for Westerners particularly Americans to visit. Seeing as America did bomb them for,,, well for a while. However a lot of other countries did also, making this one of the few places where being a Canadian, or an Italian, or basically anyone else is no excuse whatsoever.

Sri Lanka
Anyplace where the rebel group is so bold as to call themselves the Tigers has to make this list.

United States
As a quick convenience store run in the nite will reveal to anyone, this is a dangerous country. The people are heavily armed, & prone to random outbursts of violence. Not a good combination.

From what I've heard about Serbia,the whole place sounds scary as hell. Anyone been to Croatia, it sounds like it could be horrible, but is supposedly very touristy. I ask because my grade is going on a trip (read: pissup) there at the end of the year, and half of them are terrified about stepping on a landmine. Which is nonsense in my opinion, but it'd be nice to hear how likely I am to die there just in case. In my general experiences with Eastern Europe, it isn't that great, just full of poor people that want you dead.

Both Serbia and Croatia are completely fine. My housemate has been to both and said Serbia was great. Loads of people I know have been to Croatia and there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to worry about going there.

hmm tough one, ive lived in germany, japan, hawaii but those where all great. and i was young, so i was probably wasnt really exposed.

i lived in new orleans in the mid 80s and they had at least 4 murders a night back then in that town(and today probably)but i was young, so ya not exposed really


now that ive grown up, i would have to say

Downtown LA , was coming home from a rave at i think the Orion, on our way back to vegas...SCARY

2.) TJ mexico, dont go with out at least 6 people in a part..so muchs hit happned that night

3.)riverside, anywhere around that place is a dump

4.) downtown las vegas, freemont area, eastern area...but i feel pretty safe , ive lived here quite a while, still ghetto though

oddly i went to NYC for my first time in july, and i must say i felt very comfortable. took the 5 train through the bronx from city island, to manhattan, walked around china town etc

i was just with my gf and it felt quite safe..weird

It looks so different compared the surrounding neighborhoods and gets a bit of a bad rap. Although, that is the place where the Tokyo bombing scenes in Pearl Harbor were filmed.

I lived in Brixton for a while and had an absolute ball, mind you this was nearly 20 years ago, but Irish and Jamicians are very similiar so that might account for it.  A friend of mine was in America for the first time ever - infact the first time he'd been out of Ireland/U.K  he had just arrived in Sanfrancisco and was walking up Mission Street and as he was standing waiting to cross at something like 19th or 21th street another guy stood waiting to cross got drive by'd and most of his brain ended up on my mates face - that would give you a quare fucking jump - welcome to America

Street crime in South London has been on the rise for quite some time. Brixton is a far shadier place than it used to be, but it's also a good place for a night out.

I have been thinking about this all morning and to be honest out of all the cities I have been too around the world I feel most unsafe walking down the street in my own home town. Ballycastle Northern Ireland.

When in other city's you are anonymous. In your own town you are known. Recently the town has become full of marauding groups of baseball cap hoody spides/neds/chavs. These wee fuckers are about half my body weight, but they travel in groups and aren't afraid to use a weapon and they sure aren't afraid of the police.

When the IRA were still operational, this shit didn't go on. I remember when I was a kid, if I stepped out of line the cops would take you to the police station and kick seven shades of shit out of you. If you really overstepped the line the IRA beat 7 shades of shite out of you and put a bullet in each of your knee caps and wrists. Now the police are so accountable they can't even raise their voices to these little shits.

I have over the past few months had a few run ins with local groups of hoods. A load of hoods have moved in next door and they thought they would have a party in my front garden, so I chucked one over a wall and threw another down some stairs. My mate who lives opposite planted the sharp end of a hurling stick between one of the wee fuckers eyes who were kicking in his door at 4am and he's still in hospital. He opened up 12inch's of his face and left him with swelling in the brain. But my fucking m8, dragged him from the front of his own house out onto the middle of and up the road so someone would drive over him (he did it all dressed only in his Y fronts) and left him right in front of my house. The cunt in question was so drunk he can't remember who's door he was kicking in, but the Police were able to tell him were he was found. (in front of my house) Couple that with my Chav chucking incident 2 days earlier and the obvious sinner is me. So atm I have a few groups of 18-20 year old wanting my blood who could jump out of anywhere. I still refuse to carry any sort of weapon because the min you have to do that, you have just lost. Anyway I have a great swift kick to the balls mastered.

I didn't realise that Ireland was that bad for chav's. The UK is getting pretty scary just because of them, and you know that a group of 20 or so of the will start a fight with you just because you walked near them, and theres nothing you can do about it. I personally think we just need a few gas chambers and get rid of the scum once and for all. Hitler had the right methods, just the wrong target group. But I guess they didn't have chavs in Germany in the 1930's...
