I'm building a new computer (Well, was) and all the parts are here, except the Motherboard was defective and I'm having it checked (for free, thanks to the manufacturer) but I digress.

The specs of my computer are:

3.4GHz Prescott 550 Intel (I know, AMD is better) 800 MB standard FSB
500 gig HD's (2 250 Maxtor IDE's)
1 gig Corsair RAM
GeForce 7800 GT
Audigy 2Z Sound Card
ASUS P5AD2-E Delux Motherboard

I was wondering if anybody had anything close to my new PC specs, and what settings you run BF2 smoothly on.

Not as great as yours:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Newcastle (Want a 939 Socket Processor and Mobo!!! *angry*) (2.4 Ghz)
1 GB DDR SDRAM (Corsair)
Sapphire ATI Radeon X600 Pro L85 (256 MB)
RealTek Digital 5.1 Audio
MSI RS480 754-Socket Motherboard (Want a 939 Socket Processor and Mobo!!! *angry*)

Run the game on 1024 x 768 on Medium to High settings with 4x AA. No lag at all that is graphics related.

I have a new laptop but its specs aren't the greatest, probably get Low-Medium settings with 4x AA and 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024. Haven't tested it yet.

Yeah, I wish my computer worked, but I should be getting the mobo back by New Years...

I play it on all low settings, with the sight turned up to 100%, 1280x1024 resolution, and High sound settings.

P4 630 oc'ed to 3.8
300GB SATA HD
BFG 7800gtx OC
1GB RAM
1600x1200 no AA
Video Settings are all High
Audio Setting is set to Medium

Plays great, except for some pausing when audio seems to be loading.  I am hoping that the extra RAM I have ordered and new Sound card will eliminate the problem.

Max settings on all....except I think I have shadows turned down a bit.

Playing at max resolution..but I personally can't see any difference between that and the resolutions the next two down.

My comp (recently built):

AMD X2 (dual core) 4400+
Asus A8NSLI-Premium
2 GB matched RAM (damn gimmick)
NVidia GeForce 7800 GTX 256 MB card (soon to add second for SLI)
Mirrored 500 GB SATA II drives
Plextor DVD burner
Sounblaster Audigy 2ZS
Logitech blah de blah joystick with lots o buttons I've had for a while
21" Trinitron monitor

Now this is almost the fastest/best stuff you can reasonably build right now and I gotta tell you the graphics anomalies in BF2 are almost embarrassing compared to games like Far Cry or Doom (neither of which I play, but have run through them to see).

The particularly bad stuff in BF is the image pop up in mid distance.  Running across an open field results in a continuous stream of popping up plants as you move toward them once you are well inside their visual distance.  Just one of the many things graphically that BF2 does very badly compared to other games.

Anyone who doubts this can be done well in a multi player game needs to load the Far Cry demo even....it's almost two years old at this point and still puts BF2 to shame.

Man, if I had another decent modern combat shooter to go to, you'd see my copy of BF2 up on ebay within the day.  As a long time Desert Combat junkie, I couldn't wait for the game, especially once they bought up the Trauma guys.  Instead it's a buggy piece of crap, even on monster hardware.

A question for all you guys who can play Bf2 well/fast/with good graphics.
How much did your computer cost?
I realise some are custom built, but can someone tell me how much on average, (in any currency,) it would cost to get a perfect BF2 computer. Mine at the moment can barely handly Solitair, (no joke,) so I am definatly in the market, (once I get some money.)
