A lot of places will re-issue passports if you want to go to some Middle-east states, might be worth looking into?

What a beautiful city.  Thanks for answering my questions Cam!
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

Looks like good stuff however:

flawed but brilliant... and a true hero and embodiment of bravery and vision to seemingly all Cuban people
Brave men do not kill innocent civilians in cold blood.  But that is a topic for another day, I don't want to hijack.

Keep up the good pics and damn you with all your vacation time!!

Those aren't beef eaters, I'll post a pic of one in a sec.

Couldn't forget me and the infamous Knife Surrender Bin

What you were referring to was a Royal Guard of the Queen:

And of course the Queen:

And two more This is the Cathedral at Bath and a plaque that rests on a wall near one of the exterior doors.

I'm off to Istanbul on wednesday. It was supposed to be with my parents but they chickened out because of recent bombings, etc. As such I'm going on my own. Won't be too bad I hope - a bit of meditation time in a truly ancient capital.

Read 'Guerrilla Warfare' - Che Guevara's textbook guide to the practice of said art. He thoroughly denounces the killing of civilians. I think a lot of people have misconceptions about good ole' Che. I'll dredge up some quotes if I can find them in the book later on.

Oh no worries, I've read some of the stuff he wrote, I'm not condemning him on the whole, there is just still undebated and unconfirmed atrocities that he obviously can not ever answer to....

His ideas are wonderful, he was a wonderful tactician, he was a horrible person however, that did kill innocent people, there was an essay that one of his victims wrote from Cuba, I forget where it is but I care not much to debate this issue, as it is of no consequence to anything, anyone that already likes Che will always like Che and anyone that doesn't like him (me) in part due to the BLIND following of college students where I go to school because they have no idea who he is, and in part to my contradictory stance on his politics and actions.  But like I said, I'm not condemning him on the whole, just skeptical of his "greatness" due to a good deal many shady incidents that occured.  Good day.

Take a look, I know it is semi-propaganda, however the undermining truths that are represented there can not be ignored, it is a shame this will never be investigated.  To either condemn him or absolve him of guilt.  If he really never did those things, than I would whole heartedly agree with your view Cam, but there is too much doubt.

Nope...Royal Guards

Beef eaters are specifically the Guards of the Tower of London.  However there are also Royal Guards at the Tower of London, the Beefeaters are mainly just a symbolic representation of the past now.

lol, L85A1's. They'd look better with Lee-enfield bolt action rifles or something. The L85 would suit them if they didn't have that god awful hat.

You must've looked like a right twat taking a picture of a knife surrender bin.

I'm sorry but living in Fl I have seen too many Cuban families risk life and limb in extremely weak watercrafts to try to make their way over here to think it's a tropical paradise over there. Cool pics though.

Cuba looks good. I might have to add it to my list of places to go to.....        Although I think my next stop has to be somewhere Northern - I want to see the Nothern Lights.

Yup, quite right. They are the Queens Guard. The ones on horses with the shiny hats are the Lifeguards (not like at a swimming pool, they're there to protect the Queens life (probably more to do with tourism really)).

Next Set: The CDR

The Committee for the Defence of the Revolution is kind of like Hezbollah without the mortars. It is involved in every facet of life. Their is a unit on nearly every street and every apartment block in every town and city, carefully monitoring those who might be involved in 'dissident' activities. It is a badge of honour for members and their influence is felt community-wide from childhood to old age. They build schools, provide medical aid, carry out civil works and do various other things that conveniently for the government make themselves indispensable to the Cuban people, much like Hezbollah. They are also a world of guerrilla warfare shit waiting to happen if anyone tries to stick their claws into Cuba. My words of advice are: if you think Iraq is bad, then don't even contemplate messing with Cuba...

It's funny - whenever a Cuban tries to engage you in some improper activity like a taxi-ride to another town (not generally legal, you should take the state-run bus) they always nervously glance all about them for the CDR...

There are also lots of youth organisations promoting the ideals of communism....
