I bought bf2142 at gamestop, un-opened. The game wont even run on my computer. I meet all the system requirements. When I put the cd it, nothing happens. When I run d drive, it says please insert a dvd or cd first.

any idea what to do?

Can you browse the disc?
If not, it sounds like your dvd drive is f***ed mate. Try reading it on another pc if you can then you'll know for sure.

Just a thought, if you where a beta tester and have not uninstall, do that first. And if after reinstalling game still doesn't work, take it back to a store you bought it from and try to ex-change you copy for a different one. That doesn't work than there is some thing wrong with your system.

I ended up just returing it and downloading it off the stupid EA downloader, only about 4 hours until its finished

yeah im playing it. i got it from eb games yesterday. so far ive ranked up 5 times. Im a silver corporal. Unlocked the defibilator, c4, squad leader beacon, frag grenades and shotgun....

I figured out the problem, i need to get a new cd/dvd drive because my original one cant read DVD's anymore.... crappy ass dell

I just had the same problem, solved by downloading and installing the safedisc update here.

Edit = Don't forget to reboot after, that kept me trying to solve a solved problem
