The second link is jibbed, Australia which is suffering from a 10 year Drought, is worsening and is also getting major bushfire's around the Continent why isn't it on the second links photo?  And in September alone we have had some of the Hottest days on record...

I think weather goes with Newton's 3ed law, for every drought there is a flood, for every temp spike there is a cool spike and so on... (In the big picture.)

Weather reminds me of the stock market...

Much of climate theory involves concepts relating to equilibrium.  It's kind of like what Sniper said, but more complicated.

The idea is that there are thermal ocean currents that are correlated with thermal air currents.  A temperature cycle extends throughout the entirety of the world that is ultimately affected by the greenhouse effect.  Since polar ice caps are slowly melting away, this alters the aforementioned currents somewhat, but a new equilibrium is established with new weather patterns.

The easiest way I can explain this is that because the ice caps are getting smaller and thinner, these currents move differently from the way they used to.  With different weather patterns, you're going to see a gradual alteration of the seasons.  A few years will be very erratic, and then another year, they'll consistently be warmer than normal.  Even though the average annual temperature will rise slightly, the fall and winter will be colder as well, in order to even things out somewhat.

Essentially, most of the climate change we'll see in our lifetime will be very erratic and will still maintain some sort of seasonal equilibrium, but one consistent factor will be that the average annual temperature will slowly rise.  We've seen this one particular trend without fail.

Ya, but the other side is more comfortable with a the sky-is-falling mentality.

Keep that up and you'll start seeing your name in " whos the most extreme" type lists/threads here.

I really think much of the anti-global warming thing comes from the mismarketing of global warming.  As you said, it can come off as being Chicken Little in its sentiment.  Movies like "The Day After Tomorrow" didn't help this image any.

Yet, it's sad how marketing can obscure truth.  Global warming really is happening, with regards to the rise in the average annual temperature of the Earth.  That's really the core of this discussion.  As ocean temperatures gradually rise over years, there will be a gradual rise in the sea level.

Some people underestimate the effect this will have on life by stating that people will simply adapt, but you have to remember -- these kinds of adaptations aren't easy.  We can't even build suitable levees for New Orleans today, much less ones that could handle higher ocean levels.

The goal should be to slow what's already occurring.  It's not a reason to panic, but it should be reason for action.  It's kind of similar to the War on Terror, actually.  Unfortunately, it also resembles the War on Terror in that it isn't being fought correctly at the moment.....

What the fuck has global warming got to do with being liberal or conservative?

Has anyone heard of David Suzuki? The guy is an EXPERT!

I am more likely to take his opinion than these weather report links.

What are these links supposed to prove? That global temperatures are up? That is what they say. September has been relatively cool in the US, so what? The rest of the world have had the 4th warmest September on record. Taking US temperatures alone as any sort of proof of a global phenomenon is extremely misleading.

The articles also mention that the US has had the 2nd warmest summer on record.

If anything these articles are further proof of the rising global temperature.
