From todays Guardian. General Sir Richard Dannatt head of the British Armed forces has said that the British need to withdraw from  South Iraq ASAP because their presence there "exacerbates the security problems"

bah.. like you can tell from the title uk/us relations - besides if you bothered to read it's about the effect of a Generals words on the morale of his soldiers, which has fuck all to do with US / UK relations

Are you a general?  Do you believe that you can say that because you think you know what being a general is about?  Or maybe because his views vary from traditional military thinking? 

So generals shouldn't be generals, if they happen to hold different political/tactical views of the situation?  When was the last time you were a general in southern Iraq, ATG?
