BF2S Forums Suspicious events.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport. It was suspicious because there was no news of anything anywhere. No breaking news on CNN, not even a small story on the local news. Maybe I'm just paranoid

one time i was on a plane to DC and i had a similar thing happen. for those of you who haven't flown in or out of DC since 9/11, you can't get out of your seat for any reason for a half hour before arriving there and a half hour after leaving. thus to get the plane away from DC proximity if you go nuts i guess. anyway, some old lady didn't hear it or whatever and stood up about 20 minutes outside of landing. 3 air marshals grabbed her and escorted her to the back of the plane. crazy stuff.

Most likely there was a disturbance aboard the aircraft, and as per protocal the air port was required to notify the national guard (in light of recent events) and the guard saw fit to scramble an alert aircraft to escort the distressed bird in (because the alert guys were bored and found somtthing to do , ;p )

I live *ON* an air force base.. hehe

Either that or it was Air Force One, Two, Three, Four or Five. They are used by many goverment officials, and all of them have F-15 escorts.

Either that or training/difficulties.

I live near Bradley, in Connecticut - they send out A-10's and helos every once in a while, along with Chinooks.  We occasionally get a Blackhawk.

The A-10's are pretty cool.  They make the same kind of low drone you hear in games, and they always fly in perfect formation, and low, only about 500-600 feet off the ground.  Good views.  A couple performed a large swooping banked turn over my house a few weeks ago.

Chinooks, on the other hand, are loud as hell.  You can hear them for miles, and they get quite annoying.

Alot of my family lives near Edwards AFB in Massachusetts.  They CONSTANTLY send out C-5's, C-17's, and the occasional C-130.  They are absolutely massive aircraft.

But yes, to the point of the thread, that's quite interesting.  I'd have to go with either training or perhaps one of the Air Force 1/2/3/4/5 aircraft.

However, I don't understand why Air Force (any of them) would be flying so low, and I would have thought the F-15's would be paced with it - not having to catch up via afterburner.

For those who don't know, afterburning burns a large amount of fuel very quickly and is usually reserved ONLY for situations in which the extra power is absolutely necessary - take offs, chasing, etc.  Rarely will you ever see an escort for commerical aircraft using afterburners.
