PS3 because i hate all things Xbox.
PS3...hands down.
PS3 is going to be so much better than the 360, when it comes out, then the 360 owners will realize how bad their system is.

I'll probably just get box this year, ps3 next as the price drops, if you're only able to get one, wait til the ps3's price drops a little, and to see whether blue-ray or HD-DVD is the dominant tech

Get a PS3. It maybe coming out a lot later than the 360, but PS3 will eventually be the household console as it has BluRay - for it's price its the cheapest BluRay player you can buy, plus its a next gen console.
I do games tech in college and I've played the PS3 at E3 and it's amazing.

but honestly between those 2 xbox 360, the games you would paly on console, multyplayer is the best, and the 360 has the best one

Talking about playstations. My brother brought in a box from the garage today, full of playstation 1 games!
It brought back so many memories of crap graphics and slow loading times. But then you didnt give a fuck! It was great, MGS1, tomb raider, duke fucking nukem!!!

I can't imagine buying a box these days except for fun game play. Your PC is better gaming platform for almost any occasion.

Elixer - GTA is coming for the 360 as well. And the cheap high def player argument for the PS3 doesn't work either, seeing as the HD DVD drive combined with a 360 still is (slightly) cheaper than a PS3.
I put off on getting a 360 until September of this year and as far as I'm concerned it is a great machine. Not all games are great, but it's got it's gems (GRAW for starters, Gears of War, Lost Planet upcoming). No regrets at all.
That being said, it is pretty much guaranteed I am getting a PS3.
