Since i installed the 1.4 patch i am getting connection lost to server after the map has loaded and during verifying client data. never had this problem until patch was installed.

things i have tried so far :-

1. updating punkbuster
2. updating nvidia driver
3. unistalling bf2 and sp and deleting all files from registry, reinstalling bf2 and sp and installing full 1.4 patch.
4. updating punk buster again
5 creating different user and login on as that user
6. checked firewall settings and turned it off

i have managed to join a server a handful of times but get connection problems during the game even though ping is low ,and sometimes get connection lost message.

please post if anybody else is having the same or similar trouble , or more importantly if there is a solution to the problem

its driving me f@*king mad

Have you checked to see what your connection type is set to in BF2?

People have commented about it being changed to T1 from DSL when patching and then BF2 is expecting a higher data transfer rate. When it doesn't get that high rate, you get a connection problem.

Worth a look.

I just installed the game and 1.4 also and I have a question for you. Do you have your firewall off or have Zone Alarm? If so, there may be a DDOS attack happening without you knowing it inhibiting your connection. I have Kaparksy (sp) and it catches a DDOS attack when I try to connect to multi player. I have done some searching around on this and it seems Game-spy, etc has had some DDOS attacks that make it impossible to connect. To those with certain firewalls running it will show, others it will not but just not connect.

Of note, I have changed my connection speed to DSL and it still happens.

It happens to me, but I think my connection just sucks because the server certainly didn't crash.

I am getting this too. After the patch, my pings went through the roof - from 40-60 on regular servers up to 999999. Not sure what to do. Is there a website where I can run a test for 20-30 minutes to make sure the disconnections are not with my ISP?

Just recently started to get this problem as well. I did a total wipe and reinstall to no avail. I have 3pcs on my network that plat BF2. I thought it was my router so I hooked one pc up to the cable modem. Still get disconnected. Comcast says I have a stable and good signal. I did some more looking around and have found that it might be PB. So I set pb_sleep 500 along with pb_writecfg. Now I can play for about 7-8 minutes(about 500 seconds) then I'm disconnected. I updated PB and I still am having problems. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe I updated PB wrong? I so frustrated!!!! HELP!

*edit* I also did a factory restore as well...arghhh!!!

Hey [Wildcard]DaMaverick,

I had posted in the other forums. I had my ISP come out and replace the modem. Now it works fine. If you have tried all else, call them. It sounds like the identical problem I was having. Assuming there are no other future probs, that may be your best shot.  Best of luck!
