Dao-12 hands down. Seriously. The engineer guns are way better than the jackhammer. ALL of them. And the DAO is a super improvement over the SMG's. You are GUARANTEED AT LEAST ONE KILL PER DEATH if you have a dao and a computer.

Guys, quit comparing the DAO-12 to the pump-shotguns. The DAO-12 might not be a better choice for you than the pump shotguns, but last time I checked, the Anti-Tank class had wimpy submachine-guns and the Engineer class didn't have the DAO-12. It's ok to compare the Jackhammer to the DAO-12 since they are unlocks but you have to consider their respective usefulness. I for one love the DAO-12 because when I play Anti-Tank, I hate being stuck with those crappy SMGs that do less damage than a pistol...

I'll go with most people, pick the DAO12
I noticed that the recoil was suffering less than the jackhammer's and that the speed was more or less the same. As someone mentionned it, you can reload ammo one by one, and thats a huge bonus. Also, it's a lot better than the smgs since most people would use the pistols or rocket for longer range anyways.

I was very negative about the AT SMGs earlier, but after posting my annoyance about them here, logged on, played a little, went AT, got an 8-kill streak with the MP5... WTF?! I was on fire, it was totally sick!!! Then I realised that headshots are headshots, regardless of calibre.

I have both, and I consider them to both be huge wasted unlocks. Especially since SF came out.

Of the two I would recommend the DAO-12 even though I personally find it horrible. As for engineers the pumpys are far better then the Jackhammer. M1187 is my favorite gun in this game.

EDIT: The only time I might recommend the DAO is if you're playing a whole lot of MEC. If you're stuck with a crappy semi auto gun anyway you might as well get something useful.

Does any1 have an ip/port of a bf2 server with all weapons unlocked so i can try out the dao and jackhammer?

The majority of ppl here seem to like the dao better but it would be cool to try it out myself a couple of rounds

my opinion ...exactly you have to get close so there area few tactics really .. you either hide till someone gets close, use a trasnport to get next to them .. or if you at medium range you just run at them .. that all fine but whenever you get close to somone, which isnt all that hard, it takes no aim whatsoever you just point and spray if you dao / mk3 .. typically it happens that you spawn next to someone capping a flag then spray in thier general direction ...

i just think its a skilless weapon like the gl people who use it to compensate for thier lack of aim .. just my opinion .. ive seen many retards who cant aim for sh1t get a kill just cuz they happend to be close and sprayed ..go with the pump action at meduim range that takes more skills

Well I don't believe that everyone who uses the DAO, Jackhammer, or the grenade launchers are lacking in skill. I know lots of guys who kick ass as engineers or AT's, and if I was playing AT I wouldn't dare use the MP5 over the DAO just because somebody claims it is a weapon for people without skill. Same thing with the grenade launchers, if your dead and I'm not, isn't that the point of every weapon in the game??

If your accurate the Pump is ace, if your wildy innacurate the Dao is for you, if your a step up & like repairing things, Jackhammer is your man. But in a close range struggle dont reach for the shotty, reach for a knife

DAO. Its actually surprisingly effective for mid-range shooting. I often strafe and fire in controlled burst at mid range and I can kill the enemy. Like many said, its mainly cos the standard guns for the AT kit are better off as scrap metal.

smgs are perfectly good close/mid range weapons. if you're close enough to kill someone with a DAO, you're close enough to kill them with an smg.

the PLA smg is my favorite, it's really not too different than the mp5 but i like the sights and sound.

the pp-19 is technically better but the decision whether to reload has too much of an impact. with a full mag you have it good, but say you kill a guy and have 20 rounds remaining, do you reload or try your luck with 20 rounds? a lot of people would choose to save ammo, and now you've gone from an ammo advantage to an ammo disadvantage.

as far as shotguns

pump action > DAO > jackhammer > saiga

i somehow missed adding the bunny hop stratagy which is very prevalent for dao users .. they are everywhere hopping and spraying away ... very skillfull

I find myself getting insta-kills alot of times with the pump action shotguns with a little bunny hopping magic and a nice big slug to the face.

a little dice bunny hopping patch will change his mind

the patch will just make it even easier for rifles to spray and pray, and shotguns even more underpowered. the newbs have won and made this game 'easier' to play.

that's why ut and quake will always be the hardcore shooters' game of choice - nobody complains about bunny hopping.

but i hate how they... "dramatize" shotguns by making them so inefficient at killing people at medium ranges. I mean, you would probably say, "oh, you didnt' get close enough", but seriously, people go duck hunting with shotguns.
maybe its not effective against body armor though

I have and like them both they're good upgrades if you play those classes. Dao-12 doesn't kick as hard and has a bigger clip, 12 shots enough for 2 maybe 3 kills close range. But there ain't nothing like letting the MK1A3 rip, it's stronger and full auto. Big thing is you only get 7 shots, 7 shots man, and it's clips I don't know about running around with only 4-5 shots left after 1 kill. You'd think being full auto they'd use a clip that lasts more then 1 second. But if it's just one enemy up close, like if you catch that spec-op foo C4ing the arrty, it's the suff nightmares come from son!

IMO the DAO for devastating 'whos your daddy' close range combat. The Jackhammer for more practical close/med range combat (though even at med range its nowhere near as effective as an assault gun).
