New 24/7 Wake Island/Karkand Server is up!!

I just wanted to post something here just to let everyone who is interested know. Well it’s something I wanted to do for a long time now and I finally had the recourses to make it happen. As of yesterday I set up a 24 player Ranked server for BF2. Right now I have it setup to rotate through just Karkand and Wake Island because those are the most popular maps and I'm trying to get some attention to get players but if it gets popular and people start playing in it I can easily change things around. At any rate any of you players who are interested feel free to use it, hopefully if it gets some usage it will gain popularity with the public so that there will be enough players in there to have some good games and with a little luck constant activity. I have my doubts if this little experiment will succeed cuz I know that bf2 is flooded with servers that aren’t used at all, but I thought I would give it a shot setting up a server that dosent suck and is Admined by competent adults and not children. I ask for nothing in return, feel free to have fun and let me know if you have any problems in the server.

No personal experience, but this is what I've read ...

Autobalance is an EA feature that just keeps the teams numerically equal. It follows some simple rules such as switching lone wolves first before those in squads.

Smartbalance is a BF2CC function (I think) that provides more intelligence to the switching. It does everything that the Autobalance does, but it improves the features. For example, it looks at clan tags and tries to keep clans on the same side. I believe it also has the ability to not be so harsh in switching (looser tolerance), perhaps allowing the sides to be 2 people out of balance without switching.

Instead of just moving a random person to the other team when it gets unbalanced, it is "supposed" to move the lone wolf players and low scoring players first. Of course this is not perfect and has been know to move squad members and leader at times. But it is an improvement over basic autobalance.

You are correct, BS2CC allows you to change how many people can be off-balance before swapping, the default is 2 but you can go higher

Hey Victim, you may want to change your subtag 'wake is my karkand'. By your stats, I'd say wake is your battlefield 2. 1k hours logged, and about 95% of them on wake island.

You dont get it then..

Karkand is the number 1 played map

Alot of the high ranks have like over 1000 hours on karkand

And i have nearly 1000 hours on wake - meaning that I play wake just as much as they play karkand..

So "Wake is my Karkand"

If I can get some people on it and then notice that everyone leaves when Karkand is loaded I just might do that, but I wanted to incorporate the most popular maps to appease to a wider group of people.

Sure, i dont care, its war man. Thats why i made this server, all those servers out there with 800 rules, it such bullshit. I only have 2 rules which i can control, besides the punkbuster stuff that is out of my hands...No team killing for vehicles and try not to swear too much. I dont care for the most part but if there is some asshat shootin his mouth of like crazy then i will start to care. Base raping is part of the game. If your team is good enough, then the other team shouldnt be able to base rape in the first place.

Exactly, and the fact that it take anywhere from 5-15 minutes just to load a new map. You spend more time loading and verifiying data then you do actaully playing, it so annoying.

First you have to be using the BS2CC client and have that running on your server. Then its just a matter of turning it on in the admin control. It is just another option in the Auto-Admin tab which you can select and set. Its as simply as that.

SmartBalance allows you to swap to the other team if the teams are even for example. Then the next person who dies who's not in a squad, gets swapped to even out that slot. It makes it better for clan members going into any server, because they can get on the same team. Autobalance does not let you switch unless the other team is down by one, or if the map *just* started and you havent spawned.

I never had any luck with the clantags, it still swaps at times.
