Just a thought but I would think it would be neat if you killed the commander and picked up their kit you would have the communication device they have use all of there support options and the other team could get it back by killing the guy that picked up their kit. This might keep them from running around and going crazy. If they were in armor they would have to wait for the kit to re spawn, since your kit is destroyed in a armor. Just a thought, what do you guys think?

- solution to stopping Commanders from fighting
sounds interesting; not sure if they are going to implement that since bf2142 is coming out soon not sure how many more updates bf2s is going to receive.
none. too much coding anyway to implement that for no real benefitblademaster wrote:

Yeah, they can't possibly make the guns any weaker so why would they waste their time?^KoB^Buckles wrote:

Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
This would work in Theory, but whats going to stop people from raping the shit out of commanders to get their kit? This would make no one want to be commander, or the commander would run so far away that he wouldn't be able to command cuz he'd be running everywhere.
But then you'd have noobs that would steal the commanders kit and go camp out at the edge of the map and make themselves hard to get. Plus what happens when you die in a car with the commander kit, it would disappear along with your body!
i think they should make the commander have to sit in a commanding room somewhere with no way out while you're commanding
You should be able to take it out like assets as well. Maybe have a gas grenade, or a bag with rabid squirrels that go in and devour the commander.JoeFriday wrote:

Mmm, I don't think is a good idea, interesting though. Commander fighting, flying or in a vehicle instead of commanding, depends and was written from the beginning in the BF2 Official Game Guide (the Field Manual, let's call it) under the "Commander Tactics/ Chain of Command" Chapter, (and I quote): "While the commander will have to do some fighting in the 16-player games, in the larger games, use the commander for orders and support". Meaning, that if the map's small (16-players) commander definitely will have to fight AND command. If the map's medium (32-player), it's his decision if fighting AND commanding, or only command. In the larger maps (64-players) he must most definitely COMMAND ONLY. Therefore, fighting, flying an airplane or driving a vehicle will depend on the size of the map, commander's criteria and field needs.

on servers with less than 12 people you have to fight , you cant afford to have one guy doing nothing
A good commander can walk and chew gum at the same time. I once dropped a art. strike down and dropped a UAV for the team then got into a tank that was idle for a better part of the round and was ORDERED out of the tank. So i gave up the tank for no one to get into it after i hopped out. It sat there the rest of the game. Oh by the way, my team 130 tickets to there 50 tickets. They were going to boot me if i got back in it so i chose to stay so i wouldn't lose my win.
This is somewhat off topic, but whats really fun to do is be commander and then resign, go get a ton of points, and hopefully your team is winning, if so, then you be commander again, and your points double, usually giving you first place if you have any skills whatsoever. really fun to do
That would be the ideal solution ... there would be a command trailer somewhere that a player would "E" into.JoeFriday wrote:

FAIL. Sometimes commanders HAVE to fight, to (1) defend assets, and (2) to stop the enemy from taking armor that the team neglects to keep in circulation.
But i do agree that if there is some indication that the commander is 24/7 in the fray, there should be some penalty; like a certain in game kdr. This would also be a motivator for the enemy to stalk the commander.

That would mean a massive hunt for the Commander, and TK the commander and then you have his kit. Idea is cool, but add humans to it, and its aint cool anymorepvtmoustacheride wrote:

I think only your "commander" point will double.-|TS|-owNzu7 wrote:

Snipy is right, you can have 150 kills, then become commander and it won't do jack.jsnipy wrote:

Remember, your commander points do NOT go toward your ranking points. They stack up in the Commander point column. I learned this the hard way... I now have over 10,000 commander points but did earn my expert command badge along the way. But, it took me that much longer to rank up. I am now at the Sargeant Major level after 7 months.
