Newegg is only selling them on OEM status and the Creative website no longer has the standard Audigy 2 ZS, just the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum is all that's left of the 2 series on the website. So did they stop making it pretty much, and is it because the Audigy 4 replaced it? One other thing, if anyone here can possibly answer this, will the Audigy 2 ZS make a difference in America's Army (Yes, AA, not BF2) with 3D hardware audio+EAX setting enabled, or will it sound pretty much the same as 3D hardware audio setting? I wanna ask for a 2 ZS for Christmas.
Why not get X-Fi?
Audigy 2 is over. I got an Audigy 2 ZS on clearance. They've moved onto the X-Fi.
I knew someone was gonna ask me that. Unlike everyone else here, i'm only 14 and I don't have a job, and therefore can't afford to spend 130$ on an X-Fi. I also don't find it worth asking for a Christmas present because my parents have NEVER spent over 200$ on me for one Christmas, and I also want a G15 keyboard and possibly a new mouse, which I can actually take some recommendations for btw.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

G15 is the name of the keyboard, G5 the mouse. (it's a correction, not a suggestion)
I don't see anything wrong with a everyday keyboard, mouse is a must have though, logitech mx's or a G5, all personal preference though.

I suggest MX518 for the mouse, and as far as the sound card idk what the prices of the Audigy series is now but I thought it was pretty close to X-fi level.
I understand though, also lacking a job.

Thanks for the correction. I'm still using the mouse and keyboard from this set: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6823201024Jbrar wrote:

What would be a good performance mouse that is also at a good value? If that's even possible.
That mouse is lookin pretty good, how is it for those with large hands?Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Yep, I have a regular keyboard that works fine. Spend the money on a good mouse (Hint: Look at my post above).Jbrar wrote:

That's too expensive for a mouse, the MX518 is priced fairly good. I'm sure you'd say the same thing about the keyboard but i've heard the G15 is awesome.haffeysucks wrote:

I can't say how it would fit in your hand, but if you go somewhere like Fry's or CompUSA they usually have some on display that you can try._j5689_ wrote:

oem audigy 4s are still around and cheap
How are they for sound quality, do they have EAX and do they do hardware rendering?Mad Ad wrote:

Never heard of Fry's before.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Creative headquaters just a km away..
A4s are just a refresh on the A2, one more eax level (eax4) and better s/n ratio is about all thats worth quoting, the rest is pretty much the same.
I have an Audigy4 and the sound will blow you away, not sure about hardware rendering, i'm not the expert on that part._j5689_ wrote:

They are primarily a west coast deal. They tend to have a few enthusiest type items in stock, and once in awhile some pretty killer sales._j5689_ wrote:

I checked the requirements for 2142 and Audigy 4 wasn't on the list of cards that don't support hardware rendering so it looks like it does do hardware rendering.Stingray24 wrote:

This looks good, 3 bucks cheaper than the Audigy 2 as well.

Does anyone know what verison of EAX is required for BF2?
Eax 2.0
lol, sounds like you can use pretty much anything that has EAX to play BF2. Isn't EAX only software rendered for BF2 or have I heard wrong?UncleDan wrote:
