I just started a night course on the high school i went to some years ago. Took only first degree math. I'm taking second degree right now. Right now we are refreshing some of the first degree math. Damn there are so many things i don't remember. I am doing...... decent. Maybe not.
But this one i could not solve. So, can anyone solve this and tell/show me why the answer is what it is?

At first i thought that X was 1. When i put it to the test( left side compared to right side), and it was not correct.
Looked through what i had done and thought I had made one mistake and that X was 3/5...
Anyone can explain this one to me and show me how it is solved?

Basically, if i remember, you cross multiply to get 10(4X-2) + 5(3X-1) = 0
20X - 20 + 15X - 5 = 0
5X - 25 = 0
5X = 25
X = 5

What i mean is that x has to be something that makes the left side to be zero. So it is the same as the right side.. witch is zero

<=> 8x-4=3x-1

<=>5x=3

<=>x=3/5

TEST

((4(3/5)-2)/5)-((3(3/5)-1)/10) =0

<=> ((12/5 - 2)/5)-(9/5-1)/10) =0

<=> ((2/5)/5)-(4/5)/10) =0

<=> 0.08- 0.08 = 0

I also came up with that. but it's 5am and the batteries in my graphing calculator have been dead for 4 years.

([4x-2]/5)=([-3x+1]/10)
10(4x-2)=5(-3x+1)
40x-20=-15x=5
25x-15=0
(25x)/5=15/5
5x=3
x=3/5

X is 3 over 5. 3/5. Meaning that i have to multiplie 3/5 to 4, minus 2 and divide it with 5: the answer to that, minus: 3 multipli with 3/5... minus 1 divided with 10. Dont remember how to do this... so many fractures(dont know if fractures are the right words for it in english) probably not.

clue. 2 = 10/5 's

you multiply fractions by multiplying the the top of the fraction eg. 5/5 times 5 = 25/5 =5 as expected as 5/5 =1

Basic steps of algebra:

1. Put over common denominator, in this case, it is 10.

(8x - 4 - 3x + 1)/10 = 0

2. Simplify your numerator.

(5x - 3)/10 = 0

3. Now cross multiply, in this case you times 10 to both sides. 0 x any integer = 0

(5x - 3) = 0

4. Put unknowns on one side, put integers on the other side of the equation.

5x=3

5. Solve

Therefore x = 3/5

algebra is all about learing how to manipulate equations with math rules called "properties". keep in mind, action => reaction. you can do nearly anyting to an equation as long as you do it to both sides.

If x+2=0 then by subtracting 2 from both sides of the equation you get x=-2

Please note the above method is not the only method of solving this equation, so if you don't start like how I started, don't worry. Other steps you can take:

change equation to (4x - 2)/5 = (3x - 1)/10
then you cross multiply, collect like terms and so on so forth.

And if all else fails, trial and error is your best friend.
