For all the people asking about prices for a new PC:
Anything but a minor upgrade should be out of the question. If you've got a decent rig but need 2 gigs of ram, then by all means get some. But buying a high-end system now will leave you with some outdated parts soon enough, or as a hardware nut from steampowered.com put it:
"buying a new PC now is like buying stocks at close on October 29th 1929"
It's not worth it. Save up and buy a PC that has all the latest sockets & upgrades instead of buying something now that will be incompatible with future hardware (DX10, Vista)

Damn, i have an AMD 3700 Sandiego, 2 gigs of ram, ati X1800 xl.
Everything on high, AA 6X, but my game doesnt look like that.
Everything is still so pixel-ated, and I really don't know why.

Have you checked catalyst control centre, you may have disabled it there by accedent.stryyker wrote:

Well it's clear what the problem is.. no AA..
hmm, well try turning AA on in another game first to make sure it's not something to do with drivers/CCC/etc.

About the new hardware comming = there will be alot of games still for DX9, and when there is actual use of DX10, there is already a new generation.
Buying a PC from now till 2nd DX10 gen is idiot

I can run mine at 1024x768 all medium settings no aa 16x af. This is with a 2.8 ghz cpu, 9800 pro OC and 1.7 gigs of ram. Not bad.
You may have but the detail is so different Checkout the gun and arms in you images then look at his. One word "Wow!!!". I'm an AMD guy but it may have something to do with the Intel Core2 Duo and the 2 gigs of 533 Ram.<SS>SonderKommando wrote:

1.5 gig of Corsair Value Select Ram 2-2-2-8
MSI Diamond Platinum main board
EVGA 6800 Agp /w 512 ram at 353 mhz witch is only 3 mhz oc but the video ram is oc to 1.44 ghz stock is 700 mhz
19" NEC CRT at home
17" Samsung LCD (Lan Party's)
Hope to get a new machine soon but this machine gets the business done.
wish i had the cash for a system half as good as that.
my PC has those graphics but not that FPS rate...
daaaaaaaaaaamn
My 7800 GS can archive graphics like this but when there are to many people in one area my system bogs down because my processor sucks. Im thinking about getting an AMD 64 4000+, do you guys think that will fix things for me? Oh and upgrading from 1.5 gigs to a solid 2 gigs.

my fps is actually better in 2142 for some reason. at 1680x1050 on a 20 in dell with 16x, gamma correct aliasing, and multisamping on, and 2xaa i get about 89 FPS average, down to 55 fps in heavy action
it was worse on bf2
my specs are
athlon opteron 165 @ 2.8ghz
2gbs pc4000 ocz
sli premium asus
2x evga 7900 GT's
should be better, but hey im happy. some tweaking could improve my fps
the cards arnt really overclocked though, no need
this game is a beast
i get over 150 FPS in fear on this rig
and about 50-60 in obivlion, which is good
3dmark 06 is at about 9500
which isnt bad at all, and about right for this rig
