Personally, I just decide that SOB is going down.
I get out my Ak-101 run up to him taking off a few shots, then jump and land behind him prone, and own him.

Or I can take him out with a pistol before he sees me and has a chance to let looose.

Dive-scope-shoot if he is at medium range, if he's close, start strafing and perforate him. At extreme range, if I don't have anything else to do, I'll go prone, scope, and fire off a few potshots on single-fire (you'd be suprised how long-range the MP 5 is on single-shot, prone, and scoped).

2) Right click for sight
3) Adjust for movement
4) Pull trigger

always prone and zoom for medium and far distances with an auto weapon. for near distances, prone and no zoom.

with shotty, always standing, never ever zoomed.

with pistol, standing (usually moving), and clicking madly on my mouse as fast as I can while aiming for the head. People don't realize how effective the pistol is when you aim for the head.

I forgot to mention--when I'm shotty, for far distances, I'll either pick the guy off with a SRAW (standing) or lay down my AT mines quick before I die because hey, free kills for a moron driver with a truckfull of mexicans will run over anything.
