Yes, definitely one of the nicest looking stats I've seen.  Very impressive win/loss ratio, I see that War College Ribbon there.  Kill/death ratio also very nice.  You are my new CMDR hero.

Suppressive fire can work great sometimes!!  Had an instant where my team was down a hill spawing at a flag, enemies up the hill (3) on a roof top giving my team a lead shower.  So I pulled the Hummer up jumped on the mounted MG and started spraying at the roof-top edge to get there heads down, while the enemy was keeping there head down and worrying about getting there head made into swiss cheese, my guys were able to get up the hill and lob some granades on the roof top.

My God yes.  People do not understand this tactic at all.  If you hear a few bullets hit next you, most of us move or adjust our position.  This tactic is so important yet so not used.

Very true.

But what I am talking about is just laying down a sheet of lead.  Not aiming at any target at all, just sending rounds down range.  Most of us will admit when we hear a few snaps and pings next to us, we get a little worried.  That is why suppressive fire is so important yet not used.

it works especially well against low walls/crates

they wont move, as long as bullets are moving around them.. for the most part

The above Statement Makes The Search Feature Useless. Sadly, Hes not the only one to have said that, *DaReJa Points At Un Named Mods* .

I've got to say, suppressive fire in bf2 has NOTHING on suppressive fire in CSS.... for a few reasons: In CSS, you don't respawn. You get to sit out the rest of the round and wait for it to end. Also, there are no medics in CSS, so every bit of damage counts. Weapons also do more damage/shot, too. I've got to say, there are few times where I've been able to pin someone in bf2.... you can scare them with a tank, but that's different.

Totally agree. For me at least, and yes I know I'm not a great player but I do understand the intention of suppression fire, laying fire upon corners to keep the enemy back so your force can progress usually equates to a big arrow above your head saying "Easy kill here". Another problem is the teammates who seem to think that your MG hasn't got an 'off' button and that you wont stop spraying as they reach the corner so they hold back and give the enemy even more time to flank me and take me out.

The only suppresive fire in BF2 is a tank pinning down snipers.

And suppresive fire only works when the person is actually scared of being shot.  Since there is no death in this game, suppresive fire really isn't going to work that well.

Yes. 165 damage from a sniper rifle on the other side of the map.

Suppresive fire works with the .50 cals on the Jeeps, thats for sure. Those things stay accurate and they are powerful. Same with tanks, helicopters etc..

LMG's aren't feared enough to be suppressed by. Especially since you know the bullets will start flying sideways out of his gun if he fires for any longer. In 2142 they made it so your LMG is innacurate when you start firing but gets more accurate the more you fire. I think that's a really good idea and should've been implemented in BF2. Doesn't matter whether it's realistic it makes the gameplay feel more realistic. Makes LMG's unable to go rambo but allows them to lay down heavy amounts of fire in a specific area. Enemies will get more scared the more he fires because his gun will actually get more accurate the more he fires.

Maybe mods can put that in for BF2. 2142 is esentially a mod so they should be able to put it in BF2.
