Hi, I am new to these forums but I thought I would give my input on the subject considering I have extensive background. I have been in the service since 1989, 8 years active and I have be in the reserves since then. During my duration I have seen combat in several different countries as our country saw fit. I was a infantry sniper during my active years, and I although I haven't dealth with the M95, I have dealth with its evil twin the M82A1, then M95 is comparable in everyway with the exception of the semi-automatic feature, and length and weight vary a bit on the M82A1. The M95 rifle weighs in at 22 piounds, and nealy 4 feet long, so it isn't something that you are going to run around with much that much. It fires a .50c caliber round that has an effective range of 1900 meters. Now although the game does capture the power that this weapon, the game made it much easy to hit targets. Especially moving targets. At 400 meters from an elevated position it is almost unheard of making a shot on a moving target. Shooting a target on a downward trajectory reduces the target size therfore making it even harder to hit. When making shot at ranges over 100-200 yards there are several elements that have to be accounted for, drop, windage, and breathing are crucial. Adjustments that aren't easily made on the fly. Most sniping units are comprised of two partners these days, a spotter and a shooter. The spotter calculates distance, and windage for scope adjustments. A mistake of 1 degree is insignificant on a 100 meter target, but the same miss on a 1000 meter target and you miss by 20-30 feet if not more. So targets are easily aqquired and dropped in this game.
The next thing is that the .50 caliber round isn't used against personel. It is used primarily to disable light armor vehicles, and this of that nature.
The thing that needs to be adjusted is the scope. On the game, you have the ability of hitting a target at 100-150 meters tops. This is a range where a M16 would be adequate. A weapon like the M24sws like I used primarily in the service is a great weapon. Its a light weapon, however it doesn't have the range of the 50's, it does have loads of power within its range. Headshots from either of these weapons will drop a man in his tracks.
If the sniping was truly realistic, none of you would do it. Maybe the game should add a more effective damage system. If you get shot, it should effective you ability aim, run, walk, climb anything that that particular wounded part would effect. Atleast until you find a medic.
I can say from experience, if I took a shot at you from 200-300 yards, and you were a stationary target, there is 0% percent chance of survival.
