I come with a bad news for myself. Well after the patch mistake i made I had to reinstall the game and that went well enough. But then the installation. But, where did i put my manual. Well need to find it. Well i remember my mother took it because she needed to write a phonemumber down. But the stash of papers it laid between was gone. Then my mother said that she had trown that stash away. So it looks like she has accidently trown the manual away so now i for sure cant play. So if im lucky enough to find it some where i will be back on the field but else bf2 is history, so i have to play 2142 when it comes out. not gonna buy bf2 one more time. 100$ trown away.

Actually yes it is (still illegal, even you 'own' the game) - you see none of us 'own' the game - EA/Dice own the game - we only get a license to play the game using the original media and CD-Key. Strictly speaking you're not even allowed to burn a back-up copy, even if you only ever use it strictly for personal use.
