Why the realism? No one wants it.

Jets don't rearm in mid air. Ammo packs don't contain everything from bullets to grenades to TV missiles. A wrench cannot, no matter how many times you wave it, repair a tank or defuse a mine. A health pack will not heal everything from a bruised arm to three lost limbs. No matter how fast you are, a parachute won't open in time to slow a fall from a two storey house. Supply crates and recon buggies don't just fall out of the sky.

That took me two minutes to type, and I could come up with more examples with more time. Now you explain to me why we need to make this more realistic. It won't make the game more fun. The game won't be more fun if jets have to land and an army of technicians and mechanics re-arm and repair and refuel your craft. The game won't be more fun if you have to walk back to base to get more clips for your squad. The game won't be more fun if medics have to do a heart bypass in a field hospital. You get my drift.

If you want a realistic game, play something else. Don't ruin this one which has been fun and now is getting screwed up. We don't want additional 'realism'. If we did, we'd play Lock On and join the army.

Sorry, rant over.

It wasn't Quake before, and its not going to 'turn into' Quake if we simple leave it alone.

Yer theres enough 'fantasy' type games already, they've been done to death, if we wanted that type of game we'd still be playing Doom or Quake etc.

The move towards realism, whilst still retaining some gameplay is fun, it makes for a different level of enjoyment, plus the more realsitic the weaposn and the kits the better, because people have an expectation for what a series of weapons can actually do.

Of course they didn't go for full realism because that would destroy any gameplay, but they have kept a reasonable balance, I think they've pretty well succeeded when you can still see in excess of 20,000 players online at any time.

I'm sorry but do you not remember people hopping around the map using the grenade launcher as their primary weapon? That was getting pretty close to the rocket jumps that people used to quake when it first came out.

And claymores should be FF-ON all the time.  But otherwise, yes, the game is just as realistic as I'd ever like it to get at the moment.

Well said. If they want realism then join the Army & go fight in Iraq or wherever the killing zones are.
I for one like playing 'computer games' & do not expect to get realism in these. BF2 does an excellent job IMO with the balance, so like what's been said above go and play for 'fun'.

PS. The medals & badges you are rewarded with aren't real you know!
