Nice, Simple yet clean lines, not over the top like some on the market. Good job with the lighting, how has it improved cooling? The top exhaust fan any good?

I like that topfan idea.  If I had any clue as to what I was doing, I'd do the same thing.

I dont like how you can see the cathode, lights need to be out of sight, but still a top class job

yeah im thinking of placing the bottom light-tube on the right side above the other one. it was the first time i made something like this, so i didn't know where the best place for the light-tubes are. i got 2 in it ( 10cm each)
, one on the bottom (the one you can see on the pics) and one on the right side of the case (out of sight).

Nice...my case looks exactly the same with the lighting and fan on top, though I purchased mine that way.  Good job. +1 Karma.

P.S.  I don't have that Zalman CPU cooler you have, I have the one without LED.

Okay, total dumbass question, but is that now a big hole in the side of your case or is it a perspex screen?

I only ask because people have asked if it has improved your cooling and if it was a perspex screen I don't see how it would, especially with two lights now adding to the heat.

Good job though, looks fantastic. Why do most people choose blue though?

we cut the thole with the machine on pic 1, and sticked a plexi-glass window at the back with glue.
adn why blue? I think its an great collor for casemodding, also blue is one of my faf. collors.

the holes you see in the right-under corner are airholes. I drilled them with an drill-machine, and ducktaped one of my mothers panty's at the back, to prevent dust to be sucked in.

Fruitloop, the lights he has installed are called Cold Cathode Tubes, very similar to flourescent tubes, but very low voltage. I have numerous ones scattered about. Due to very low voltage, the do not produce any heat.

Well at least you were smart enough to take the side off when doing it. Some guy in my clan used a dremel on his case while he still had his parts in it, lol. Surprised the metal flakes didn't short his PC...

Oh, and blue FTW!

Well, there are many reasons for choosing blue... The most common being that it's the only color that most vendors have (!).
Also a lot of people dislike the green and yellow because it's pretty standard for PC gear. Orange and purple are too mixed colors to give you truly good results, unless you only want to illuminate a very SMALL area of your PC, in which case you'd usually use a diode instead of a tube. White is like... No way you might as well use a lightbulb. And then we're more or less at the end of the color spectrum.

Personally, I like to use blacklight (UV) and then use luminescent paint on some of my gear (like the fan blades, heatsinks or cable-eaters). UV has some disadvantages though. Bad for your eyes being one of them.
On one mod I took a laser pointer and pointed it at the northbridge fan (a very slow fan, as I attached a small fancontroller to slow it to around 100 RPM, NOTE: This is only practical if there is also passive cooling, or you have VERY good airflow), painted the blades with silver and polished them. It was AWESOME the way the light shone out of the case window... I'm almost sad I dont have that case anymore.

I DO have this to say to new case modders: Make sure that you do not overextend your powersupply, and also make sure that you do not "corrupt" your airflow, or cause heat to be trapped. These are very common mistakes, and will lead to system instability. A lot of new casemodders simply "give up" on modding after a bad experience or two. Don't give up, ask for help.

OP - Awesome work for a first mod. The panyhose as see-through dust-filter idea is brilliant. Next time you might create a frame that snaps on the inside so you can easily change/clean it when it gets clogged.

Viper - that's a cool mod.

Twist - with the UV lights, find a plexiglass that has 99-100% UV absorption and then you don't have to worry about radiation damage to your eyes.

Modders - with the plexan/plexiglass windows where there used to be earthed steel casing, how do you maintain integrity of the faraday cage and prevent escape of microwaves produced by the CPU?

we dont. the em radiation prduced by a pc is not high at all so we just let it out into the room. what you catch during 10min out in the sun is way more than i will get in my whole life infront of a pc.

Very nice. I like the mixing of colors. One bright, one dark. I would suggest a decal on the top. It makes it a wee bit dull, on the other hand, very nice and smooth =]

Nice case mate! if you can bear to then you could sell it on Ebay to raise funds for your next project!

For the first time ever I'm actually going to build a PC from scratch, i have a good friend of mine overseeing the whole job so I dont make a complete balls up of it

TWIST - REALLY cool idea, mind if i borrow it

Just wanted to say I've decided to go for a silver and red colour scheme, mostly because bl;ack and red is so obvious and most other people go for the blue, I've bought the Lava Razer ouse and a red backlit keyboard but am looking for some good red case mods. the other people are right in saying blue is almost all thats sold now, but tbh it does start to look a little generic (no offense meant).

Keep up the good work!

Nice mod, man.

I've never seen a case with a fan on top, but it looks kinda cool.

(I'd never have one 'cause my brother always sets his drink on the top of my PC and the risk of dribblage is just too much...)

My friends' Dad tried to do a custom case mod, but the lines on his are suck, they're all wavy and kinda ragged...

EDIT: Moved stuff around

I'm partial to dual colors as well.  Here's what I did with mine:

Fair enough.... but its a few watts, at a few GHz... that's pretty powerful compared to mobile phones and transciever towers.

But I was thinking more in terms of interference with monitors and suchlike, and security.
