Ok you may notice that there are alot of bugs and problems, and you know there are.

Do you think they can fix it all in time for release date.

I dont.

Dont get me wrong 2142 is a pretty different game from battlefield, I like the points/rankings/unlock system its pretty customizable. I like the futuristic settings its not lasers and ion cannons. I would definately get the game based on the beta, if the release version has no bugs.

It's the BF2 engine and you see how much they're able to fix in one year BF2 and now the development time of BF2142.

i guess they will be able to get a lot but not all out. if they manage to fix the exploding titan (which comes back with full health and shields), the glitching though the shield and the unlock/private bug, i'll be happy. the rest are not so bad. also i hope that they will be able to stop the 2 titans to be completely submergend in each other. also i hope that they upgreade the weapons a bit, cause frankly they suck.

+ I frankly think they need to fix collision detections, Ive had instances where I would sprint into a box and kill myself.

And they need to fix the video settings, before I could play bf2 In medium now I have to play it on low.

yeah, the collision detection sucks. forgot about that one.

about the setting, seeing as its the same engine it shopuld give you similar performance. i guess (hope) that the higher strain has to do with unoptimised code. i run both on all high but have seen a drop in fps of about 25 (100 to 75) but in poe 2 i also saw a drop in fps of about 10. maybe bf2 just doesntr do well with mods

I don't think they can fix what they don't understand, look at the BF2 patches. The beta is awfull, CTD's and lost connections like you've never seen in your life. Any fixes they make to stop the CTD issues will go in the 1.4 patch, so that looks a very long way off now.
I think it will get rushed out in time for Christmas, followed by patches starting in January.

I think that most of the bugs will be fixed for one major reason. 99% of these bugs are basically BF 2 bugs, and I personally think that with 1.4, EA/Dice decided to just sit down and iron out every last bug. They've had a year's experience with BF 2 bugs, so it should be fairly easy to root out the BF 2 bug "ports". Sure, I don't think that they will all be fixed and it probably won't be quite up to the standards of a finished product until 1.1, but it should be mostly there.

They will get the major stuff (like disapearing titans and lag on titans) but some lesser things will remain. Also I do not think the reb/blue tag will get fixed unless it is in 1.4. If they don't fix it in 1.4 then it will be safe to say its unfixable. But remeber there will be patches, I just hope Swedes are better at patching then Canadians. But try to go on the forums and say things you want changed because that will make it more likly they get changed.

What I definitely like about the beta are loading times. They are like 1/7 of how long it takes me to join a BF2 server (especially post-1.3). So if they work hard with the engine, then maybe they will be able to kill 50% more bugs. But the game will be heavily patched after release anyway.

In the first beta, titans didn't explode for no reason... I think the first was way better than the second. Now, that being said, this is pretty much a useless thing to debate because there's really no way of telling. I think the more important question is 2142 enough fun to earn my $50. Honestly, I don't think so. I still enjoy BF2 better, bugs and all.

I believe that the BETA 2 is not what they are proggressing in, I think its just a side beta which they are testing on us, to see if certain gameplay works. They are most probably working on BETA 5

I've actually been thinking the same thing. (what if) they were just pulling our legs and just testing new gameplay mechanics? What if 2142 is a hit (a big maybe, I would be really happy if it came true) after release and Dice/EA breaks the negative rep they've made for themselves?

Yes, I know i shouldn't hold my breath. In fact, half of me is just saying this will never come true. I can hope, can't I?

well, I don't know. Release date is supposed to be mid-october, and the second beta still runs til september 12th. That's roughly 5 weeks for finalizing, QS and then DVD pressing and retail stuff. And they might even consider putting out a demo ( as they did with BF2 ) to lure people into buying the game, especially those who lost all faith in EA with the 1.3 issues.

All in all, that is a very tight schedule. I say they will be able to fix issues like the CTD's, server crashes, and glitching, bugs (titan exploding ). The important stuff, really. the things that will disturb your gaming experience heavily.
If they can iron those out, people might actually buy 2142.

In the reports from the ea community day i read that they played a pretty stable version of the game.
So the game is in better shape than the beta we're playing now but it is still a pretty tight schedule.

well i really hope they fix the serious bugs that has plagued battlefield 2. this includes the insane CTD and all the rest of the bugs.

and you guys are absolutely right: they basically have 5 weeks to get this game ready for us players out there and that is not an easy schedule.

here is what i am going to do

1) see a demo for the game
2) read more articles about the game
3) look at the reviews out there
4) check the www.bf2.com forums and listen to players who have the final version of the game.

its pretty obvious i am not going to get the game outright. im going to bite my tongue and wait a while : at least until january 2007. then i ll wait some more if so desire to do so.

the purpose of me doing this is to see if EA/DICE will repeat the stupid mistakes they have like in Bf2. And if I see the same old stupid nonsense and stupid players why have no respect or concept of teamwork, then i am not going to buy the game at all.. PERIOD.

Well good news for you because DICE has added alot to increase the benefits of being in squads; they have field unlocks, get extra points for kills near their leader and the leader has alot of cool stuff like a hovering droid with a gun on it and a beacon that you can spawn on even if the leader is down. So 2142 will encaurage teamplay much more then in BF2 but if you still are not getting the teamplay aspect enough (i.e. other guys in your team aren't working together or communitcating) then join a clan.

Based on the beta i would have to say i wouldnt buy BF2142

Looking at the screenshots i was tempted, but having played it there are numerous things i really dont like, however i wont get into the details here

The game looks to have some good features in it and they have made some wise moves away from bf2 gameplay, but its not up my street, lacks a lot of realism imo

They DON'T NEED to fix this "supposedly" 2nd BETA build. . . it is an older Build than version they had shown at E3.

The ALPHA BETA GAMMA MAETA MAMA SHMAETA BF2142 BETA 1 & 2 is all for show! It is just some weird "PR" nonsense - that I don't understand. AND as if DICE ever really finished BF2 - NOT! As far as I am concerned BF2 was released with known BUGS and it actually got worse - patch by patch by patch.

They will fix it all	11%	11% - 12
Fix most of it, but bugs such as "redname" will remain.	35%	35% - 38
Fix about half of it	16%	16% - 18
Only fix the easy stuff	37%	37% - 40
Total: 108
