MY BF2 game will crash at the end of every match just as the music plays and the flag of the winner zooms in. for some reason when it does this also it takes all the points I worked for thru the duration of the game with it. WHY?? and how do I fix this problem.

hmm mabye they just haven't loaded yet, but still, is there anyway to fix this by chance? it's the 3rd time in a row
why the game crashes, could be anything. i get most of my crashes when i start a round when the kit choice screen comes up
hmm, peculiar. I unno I love this game but any and everything causes it to crash.

mrhitman07, your copy of BF2 crashing, even your machine crashing, won't make any difference to whether the server collects and sends the scoring for the round. If the server itself crashes (thanks to 1.3) then sometimes you'll get lucky but most of the time those points are lost.
I'm not sure why your game is crashing at that point, don't think I've read of that before. The standard advice would probably be to reinstall the game from scratch and then use the full patch to get back up and running.
But if it's a hardware or settings problem this isn't likely to help. Is this a recent development or has BF2 always done this? Every time? It might be a sound thing; do you have a sound card or are you using software? If you currently have it set to hardware and high maybe try software and medium, see if that helps.

Todd, this is a new occarance that has been happening acctually. and I had reinstalled the game with the full patch 1 time prior to it happening and 1 time after. but randomly it decided to start this. even still I played 3 rounds today strait before it did so I don't konw anymore.
and BTW It does not loose my points, bf2 was just taking it's sweet sweet time to update my score and badges for some reason. (took 20 hours)

I ran your problem past a techie friend and he suggested updating graphics and sound drivers as a first step (standard techie advice for many issues!) He also thought it could simply be corrupted game files, but a reinstallation would have sorted that out.mrhitman07 wrote:

I don't think it can be the DVD (a scratch or fingerprints) because that's ignored once the game is up and running I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, there's often a backlog toward the end of the week and on weekends, hence some people getting promotion messages more than once. I think stats have been frozen for five or more days before!mrhitman07 wrote:

well oddly enough it has started working without problems. I am not going to question it, but it's good now. After I took my puter and used an air hose to blow all the dust out of my fans and such, the game began to work fine again... I don't know but I"m happy so I'll leave it at that.
