Tips and tricks to knifing
Knifing is hard. It’s never going to be easy. So here are some useful tips and tricks to help you get your shiny, shiny badges.
I may not be the best person at knifing in BF2 but I’ve managed to accumulate many knife kills over the time I have been playing. I got my Expert knife pre patch 1.3 (when they lowered the requirements for most badges) which meant 18 kills in one round with a knife. That involved me dieing …… a lot, so much in fact that I got my first (and only) purple heart doing it.
So basically, if you’re a player who is obsessed with K/d ratios and the like I wouldn’t suggest knifing as you will die.
Know where the enemy is.
For example, you watch someone walk under a door frame and into a corridor and suddenly then get riddled with bullets and collapse on the floor. Now if you’re a clever player you think “aha! There must be an enemy in that corridor. And if you’ve watched where the “dust” was appearing, you will know which side the enemy is.
And remember the UAV is your friend!
How to knife
Now here is where the real-action comes in. knowing where and how to knife someone is important as it can improve your chances of a) knifing them and b) not dieing. Most players who knife will run and dive then knife around the legs or in the groin. This way the victim shouldn’t be able to get out the way. And remember to add in a few jumps for luck! Of course if your victim is prone and your running straight at them (not recommended) aim for the face, it’s a 1 hit kill there.
If you can, try to sneak up on your enemy. If you know he’s behind the crate walk around the building and knife him from behind. Usually if you ran straight at someone with a knife there going to say “Yay a free kill!” and fill you with bullets.
Another important factor of knifing is sprint. If you are going to knife someone front on for god sake make sure you’ve got full or close to full sprint. If you just stroll up to them they will kill you. But if you suddenly come whizzing round the corner in front of them dive and knife them in the face there going to die before even getting a shot off if you do it fast enough.
What kit?
Most people who play a round just to knife people will choose sniper as they have good sprint. I prefer to use medic as then I can heal myself in-between knifings (and so spend less time on the floor – dead) and get the added bonus of picking up team points on the way. Unfortunately the G36E (if you have it) is a great gun and you might think of shooting them instead as its less risky. In my case I don’t get loads of knife kills as medic because I love shock paddles (*CLEAR*).
Practice makes perfect
If you’re having trouble knifing on multi-player practice on single player (although change the difficulty setting to at least medium). Then you can practice doing the dive and knife move. Once you’ve mastered that you’re ready for multi player!
Maps
in my opinion, city maps are best for knifing as it doesn't take long before you stumble across an enemy. i would not recommend karkand but i would recommend Sharqi ( the map i got my expert knife on) as it is a map popular with snipers. snipers are great to knife as there's little they can do to fight back if you muck it up. there pistol isn't brilliant when faced with a bunny-hopping-knife-wielding player and there sniper rifle might as well be a potato gun....unless your facing someone like nyte i suppose. i like warlord because there is lots of snipers on that map because of all the places they can hide thanks to zip-lines and grapple-hooks, but of course you actually have to buy SF.
Movie
Here a quick movie I did to show you some of these points put into action

If you still cant even knife you’re own team without difficulties add me to your friends list on xfire (user name: hydroion) telling me you need knife help on the invite and I will try to help you, but I am not promising ANYTHING as I am usually quite busy. But im sure if you ask around a lot of the other players would be glad to help you.
Feel free to add your own tips. But please no flaming.
