I've got all my vet infantry badges, almost all ribbons except warcollege, can pilot helicopters, fly planes, be a good model for a battlefield 2 player. Not outstanding but a good rank with reasonable W:L, K, but perhaps borderline SPM.

Despite all this, I don't know what button operates the speed boost for the american DPV >.>

Uhh.. help answer my noobish question?

God darn it. Now where the hell did I ever pick up the notion there ever was the speed boost feature for these cars. Imma gonna get that SOB. Thanks for clearing that up guys.

The fact that there's a boost button config in Controls might be where you got the notion It was a feature that didn't get implemented but was never removed from the game, it's just a little more obvious than some of the others, like the sound file for "Enemy wheelbarrow spotted *guffaw*" and the demotion music.

Yep! The sounds are in Common_client.zip, which is in Battlefield 2\mods\bf2.

Obviously make a copy to a new location and unzip that. The demotion drumbeat is loose in the Sound folder, all the speech is in subdirectories for each language. Because it's not obvious, what you're looking for is PLAYER_SPOTTED_TM_enemywbspotted.ogg; while you're there don't forget to check out the two last sound files in the same folder.

All the music and sounds from the menus is there too, and there are 15 death sounds and five ouches

LMFAO! That is brilliant! Just had a few unusually poor rounds on AF, but that has definitly made up for it!!!!
The commander version is funny as fuck. There are some quality sounds in there...surprised they didnt use the mines spotted. This will keep me going a while now
