hey guys i was looking through my bios and my agp aperture size was set to 128mb and i have a 512mb card so i changed it to 512mb but my graphics are all fucked up even on the desktop, i cant set it any higher than 128mb or it gets a messy.  any ideas why ???

AMD Athlon xp 3200 2.2ghz
mother board is a Asus a78n-e deluxe
graphics card is a XFX 6200a 512mb agp
it has 1.5gb ram (3x512 sticks)
120gb hard drive
has 3 large fans aswell
windows xp sp2

yeah they do but its crap i get my new pc in a few weeks, much better than the one at the mo

Okay, well what you just reset was how much RAM was used in conjunction with your card, seing as how you set up the bios to use a whole stick, that's probably the issue. Turn it down. The Apeture size isn't how much memory the card uses, its how much RAM put into service with the card. Turn it down, and the problem should go away.

The AGP aperture size does nothing more than allow your video card to "borrow" up to that amount of memory from your system ram.  If you have a 128mb card and you're playing an intense game like BF2 that would use...say 256mb of memory from the video card, your video card will take 128mb of ram from your system memory to play the game better.  Just leave it on 128mb...you should never really need more than that...let the video card's memory do its work.

i disagree, i had a 6800 gt with 256 mbs of ram and i bumped my aperture size up to 512 and saw a considerable increase in performace (could run everything on high and had 4x AA at 1600 x 1200 and get 35-40 fps).  I had 2 gbs of ram though
