So, I have a 2 year old AGP system with a 6800 GT OC. At some point, I want to get a new mobo (and probably CPU) and nVidia video card. However, aren't DX10 cards going to come out soon? Or will those cost an arm and a leg?

Basically, my question is should I wait for the next generation or will they be too expensive? I don't wanna spend more than like $300 or so (i.e. no top of the line).

Well I'm getting a 7900GT. This whole DX10, can't you just download it or buy it and install it?

DX 10 is for windows vista and since it's a new engine, the graphics are better than DX 9. I think you can download DX 10 but there's no point doing that if your card (7900 GT) dosn't support DX 10.

EDIT* it's your choice if you either wait for the DX 10 card or just buy a DX 9 card, DX 10 cards are probably going to be pretty expensive.

Alright, then DX9 it is.

And hmm, my friend is selling his 4800X2, 2 1900XTX's and his mobo as he's getting a new PC tomorrow. Perhaps I should buy them off him...
