Those websites suck!
If that is where you get all you economic information from, on the U.S. Economy, then you should shoot your teachers for teaching you a biased view of economic research.
There are way better websites that explain the U.S. Economy and what might be wrong with it and what is going good.
By the way, the inflation rate just went down, which is a aspect in measuring the economies performance.
I would also suggest you read the whole FT and wallstreet journal to also get a perspective on economies, and also watch the bond markets.
But you are right, If the US economy tanks, that means all of the worlds economies will take a hit too, in some degree. Since we are the largest purchaser of goods that are imported or consumer economy.
By the way, a lot of the crap on the internet is just crap! I could probably find articles on why two donkeys humping in Saskatchewan Canada and how the press covered it show how the US economy is going to tank because the production of Hungarian Salami does not have one of its main ingredients.
But then again, I could be full of shit!

We're already trying that tactic, its only making things worseht_fly wrote:

So the BBC talks crap yeah? CNN too i guess?? They are all talking about America entering a recession, the worlds top economists are saying it, Dont try to tell me you arent when you literally know very little about it.ht_fly wrote:

Well Bloomberg, the Times, the G8 and Alan Greenspan all seem to think the US economy is headed for serious trouble. I'd listen to them.ht_fly wrote:

I watch Bloomberg most days and have seen a lot of dicussions about how the US economy is on a knife edge - that is not to say it is doomed, it could easily be pulled back. The reversal of Bush's tax cuts would generate an additional $600 billion in revenue for the government, which would be a quick instant fix. It would not even be neccessary to bring taxes up to the levels they were before Bush cut them, just bring them up a bit, maybe to a halfway point and the economy would be fine - just don't leave it too late.
Bush has had record levels of deficit under his administration. Not just in one year, but many. Economic growth has helped to deal with this, but America's finances are slowly trickling away...
If the US's financial situation is sooooo great - why have the G8 asked them to exercise 'fiscal constraint' (source - Bloomberg.com), why has Alan Greenspan said if the deficit issue is not addressed immediately there will be 'severe consequences' (BBC) and why have the deficits under Bush been the largest under any US president ever?

3. Because Bush is an idiot.
4. Because we keep winning the Tour de France.
Seriously, as an American I think that people's perceptions of us as a "people" are way off. Most people outside of this country are unable to differentiate between our politicians goals, and the American citizens ideology.
We may have a democratically elected government, but they don't always do as we wish (well, almost always they don't).
Didn't the guy who won the Tour de France this year cheat?HM1{N} wrote:

There are other reasons too, that have already been pointed out - wasteful ignorance and dismissive attitudes towards the rest of the world don't do anything for US popularity.
The problem is that a lot of Americans I've spoken to DO support Bush and his crazy foreign policy and the backing of Israel on anything at all - I could post some quotes from this thread and others but I don't think I need to, you know the sort of thing I'm talking about. The problem is that these 'less well regarded on the international stage Americans', shall we call them - are ruining the reputation of your country for all the rest of you, who are perfectly sensible civilised people.
Floyd Landis used hax in the last tour de france dirty cheat..

He still won. Rules? What rules? Those rules don't apply to us, Americans, Fuck Yeah!
Is this pretty close to how you think we are overseas? Cuz it's not - HM1N got it right...

That's not what I said - I talked about a minority, an over exposed minority, who spoil it for the rest of Americans "who are perfectly sensible civilised people".Pug wrote:

Why wont this thread die????
Why won't you die?
It wasn't directed at you. It was a general comment and something that agrees with your point...plus it's supposed to be a little funny.Bertster7 wrote:

Yeah I know - but there I was stereotyping you as a 'typical' ranting American - lol. I did get and appreciate the humor behind it.Pug wrote:

Kinda seems like the Europeans "shallowness", or inability to see the truth about this subject is the real cause?

reread my post again. I was criticizing your research skillz not your outcome.
What the hell does BC Canada have authority over US economy.
You guys really jump the gun a lot.
I was not bashing your outcomes, just your research websites.
By the way I did not mention cnn or bbc. So why bring it up.
Bloomberg is a good source, so is the FT and Wall street Journal.
So is HBR, Forbes, Money, Business Week and a host of other periodicals.
Damm. your research just plain sucks!
Remember not your outcome on the economy, just the websites you listed suck.
So, get over it and learn how to do better research.
If you so good good a predicting economic performance, then why does the FED raise interest rates?
If you can answer that, then you know your shit.
If you can tell me why Bush let the dollar slide?
Then you can be the Zen master of economic outcomes and be the opinionated wall street jerk!
Other then that, learn how to research, beside using a search engine.
Then again, I could be full of shit!

Yes, well lets face it even if they give the gold to the second place guy, he was still the second place guy and not the winner. Hahahahaha so it's a win by default but not an actual win.. cheapens it in my eyes.Vilham wrote:

My bank account sez you're wrong, he spends a little too much (as does congress), and he's a little slow on the whole illegal immigrant thing, but the economy is good, and we are finally fighting the terrorists on their own soil instead of ours.zombiguy wrote:

and if you think his daddy's not really pulling the strings, your in denial!
bloomberg is ass, the times have long since lost all credibility, and deficit does not = economy

We've neve actually fought the terrorist on our soil which is why 9/11 happened.
Those sites i provided are perfectly fine, they provide news to world events...ht_fly wrote:

Also you seem to have accepted that America is in economic trouble, so why are you still arguing, seems to me your one of these people that just want to argue about anything.
